Blacksmith Posted September 26, 2011 #1 Posted September 26, 2011 Just bought an 08 RSTD last Sunday, So far so good love the bike. got a buddy has an 06 model. Are there any major differences in the two model years ? Now I need to research tires as well as I dont like the Bridgestones on it ? Suggestions?
RandyR Posted September 26, 2011 #2 Posted September 26, 2011 No differences year to year on the 05-09 RSTD's other than the paint. The "S" model has more Chrome each year. I like the Avon Venoms on mine going with a 130 width front tire whch seems to make the bike a bit more nimble. welcome to the Ventureriders. Pics..????

LOL 1) It didn't happen unless you post pictures. 2) Your part of our family now and you can never leave, no matter what you ride. 3) Ask questions and you will get some answers .... some smart a$$ but you will alway get a response that will help solve your problem or question. Oh ya welcome to the family!
Pegasus1300 Posted September 26, 2011 #4 Posted September 26, 2011 The 08 is my favorite year and the fastest color in the Blue/Black.I liked white wall tires on mine and so I used Dunlop 404 or the Metzler 880 which doesn't come in a size for the rear in WWW. I wish i hadn't wrecked it,and would buy a replecement if I could fine one close to me in UT. BTW welcome to the family. This is a great place with lots of good people.
TDunc Posted September 26, 2011 #5 Posted September 26, 2011 Pearl White is definitely faster....:stickpoke: Welcome to the forum.
Stache Posted September 26, 2011 #6 Posted September 26, 2011 2009 Charcoal/Raven is fastest. If ya wanna prove otherwise ya gotta come to Newfoundland to try to catch me... Seriously, Blacksmith, You're gonna love it.
3pettz Posted September 26, 2011 #7 Posted September 26, 2011 I have an 05 and she's the best...I just installed perilli's, will see how long they last!
Rick Haywood Posted September 26, 2011 #8 Posted September 26, 2011 :wel_ani3Tay:Well first off welcome and everyone know the 2000 MM edition Venture is faster than all the other models.
RandyR Posted September 26, 2011 #9 Posted September 26, 2011 I forgot to say another possible difference is the California sales models having additional emission controls.
Blacksmith Posted September 26, 2011 Author #10 Posted September 26, 2011 Well I have to say the Charcoal Silver/Liquid Silver seems to be the fastest so far .. The S model does stand for SPEED dont it

How does one determine if his bike is a "S" model?
Blacksmith Posted September 29, 2011 Author #12 Posted September 29, 2011 How does one determine if his bike is a "S" model?????????? By how fast it goes of course ...... It was some chrome and the color added to the 08 I believe.
RSTD4US Posted September 30, 2011 #13 Posted September 30, 2011 The "S" model has chrome forks and the other model has brushed satin looking front forks.
Mike from Ohio Posted October 4, 2011 #14 Posted October 4, 2011 I saw wind deflectors on a used bike that had square, bronze tinted wind deflectors atattched to the top of the paniers. I drove the bike and they were very effective. The were held by one screw on the inside of the air box. Any ideas where they can be purchased, or do you have an idea for a good substitue. Mike

Mike I don't think I've ever seen them. A picture would help. They might have been made by the owner.
