I have a 2008 Venture...I'm very frustrated right now with my dealer trying to diagnose my bike. I'm on my third battery in 8 months. They put the third one in a couple of days ago and from the conversation I think mostly because they don't have a clue. What has been happening is that if I don't ride for a couple of weeks the battery was dying...so I thought there may be a draw on the battery...The dealer said that he was only seeing about a 1.2 Miliamp draw coming from my GPS set up. At first he told me that would drain my battery in two weeks...then when he sent me home with my battery charged back up...it was dead the next day. They did all their troubleshooting and finally they said that it was another bad battery. They put the battery in a couple of days ago...I went riding today and when I got back I noticed a noise coming out of the battery...it sounds almost like its sizzling. I don't think that it should do that...It is still making the noise and the bike has been in my garage for over 3 hours now. I asked about the voltage regulator and they told me they checked it...any suggestions at this point?

Thanks...Dee

The most likely thing to cause a sizzling battery is to high of a charging voltage.

You may have an intermittent in the regulator. If it does not act up at the dealer, they will never find what ain't broke at the time.

Do you have a digital volt meter that you can hook up at least temporarily and go for a ride? It could be that once it gets good and hot it stops regulating and is letting to much voltage thru.

Sizziling?

Check you charging voltage you may be putting too much out.

:sign yeah that:. Assume still OE wet cell battery. Pull cell caps and make sure fluid above plates, if any doubt pull battery and look thru the side and full line. If low replace ONLY with distilled water.

If gel cell type battery, make sure it is not swelling, had one swell up like basketball. If so get it out now and put in a tub/bucket of water.
