friesman Posted September 19, 2011 #1 Posted September 19, 2011 I have exchanged a few messages with Chris Richard (Mike Richard's Brother) and he mentioned he was having issues getting Mikes bike back to Ontario from Calgary AB. Does anyone know of a way to help get Mikes bike to his brother Chris? Can we set up a relay? Or is there a reasonably priced way to get a bike across Canada? If you have any ideas please let me know so I can tell Chris, he would really like to have his brothers bike home. Brian
Trader Posted September 19, 2011 #2 Posted September 19, 2011 Try calling a freight company. Being a freight company they may refuse , but If you drain all the gas out of the bike they MIGHT be willing to transport it. Manitoulin Transport did a large package for me (that wasn't crated) and were very reasonable...but it wasn't a motor vehicle so I don't know for sure if they will or not. Just a thought.

friesman Posted September 19, 2011 Author #4 Posted September 19, 2011 He can't rent a trailer and go get it before the winter weather sets in??? Or.... http://www.motorcycleshippers.com/s_insideCanada.htm Its not the weather, its the distance and the cost of fuel of making a round trip from Ajax Ontario to Calgary Alberta. its about 3300 kms one way. if it comes down to that he will be cheaper shipping and paying the 900 bucks shipping rather than making a round trip to get the bike. Gary N. Posted September 19, 2011 #5 Posted September 19, 2011 Have a couple friends who shipped cars cross country using CP Rail for low $$$. Might be worth a call. Not sure if the bike would need to be crated or not. The cars were both driveable so CP picked them up and dropped them off at the door. Also you might do a search for truckers looking for loads.

Brian The other alternative might be to sell the bike in Calgary and be done with it. By the time he factors in the costs to ship it, and what he could get out of it, he could buy another locally... unless it's sentamental...

Thats what I think should happen. but I thought I would float an idea in case anyone had a solution. I think prices are higher in Western Canada than the East so he could end up with cash in hand. BradT Posted September 20, 2011 #8 Posted September 20, 2011 . I think prices are higher in Western Canada than the East so he could end up with cash in hand. Less buyers as well, and we are just coming into the colder season. Use the 900 bucks to discount the price and price it to sell, or you may sit on it for the winter. Depending on where it is you may have to move it. Good luck and all the best. Brad
