If you listen carefully, you can hear the first pilot, Jason, saying hello to his parents!

GolfVenture Posted September 18, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2011 Its got to be so inspiring to young kids to see such a plane as the B2 to want to do that when they grow up. I worked on the B2 IT system that kept track of the composites freezer and oven data. Once I was in the factory building up high where I could see about 10 B2s in an assembly line in various stages, and impressive site but not as impressive as this fly by. Thanks for the video. My son, Army Special Forces, has mentioned how great it is to have the finest and best Air Force in the world. Thank your son for his service. Just wondering if he is an AFA grad. If so what year? b2dad Posted September 18, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted September 18, 2011 Its got to be so inspiring to young kids to see such a plane as the B2 to want to do that when they grow up. My son, Army Special Forces, has mentioned how great it is to have the finest and best Air Force in the world. Thank your son for his service. Just wondering if he is an AFA grad. If so what year? He is NOT an AFA grad. He joined the AF part way through college with a friend who opted out during boot camp. His first assignment was Minot, ND as a security specialist. He started flying in the helicopters doing perimeter searches (as security, not the pilot) and I guess you could say he was in the right place at the right time. He expressed his desire to fly and his commander said ok...or something like that, LOL! He went back to college and finished his degree and then went to flight school. He did so well there that on graduation night, they announced he had been awarded the B2. He became (at that time) the youngest (aged), lowest rank ( 2nd LT), and the first ever awarded the B2 directly out of flight school. WOO HOO! That's my son! (this is mom speaking, B2mom). His dad and I are proud of all our children, and all our service men and women and their families. We don't want to forget their families...the husbands and wives and children that keep the home fires burning. Tell your son we appreciate his service also. The air show was awesome with all the service branches represented along with several different guard units. This is the first air show we ever attended and will NOT be the last. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed all the performers, not just our son. Due to the recent news of 2 plane crashes at air shows...it was very emotional for me (the mother) to watch some of the stunts. However, you can't not look! Thanks again for your post and interest in Jason. Don and Patti
Marcarl Posted September 19, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 19, 2011 Had to be a proud moment but maybe also a scary one,,,, after all, who taught him how to fly that thing,,,, does he really know what he is doing,,, has he got it right,,,,, he never knew those things when he was home,,,, is he old enough for that???? Ya, just some common fears I suppose,,, but it was still him flying that bird, wasn't it,,, WOW,,, and he spoke so official on the intercom,,, man, has he grown up or what.. Congrats you two, you've got some awesome kids.
Linemech Posted September 19, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2011 Was standing on the ramp at Millington when he flew over yesterday. Impressive plane, and from the sounds of it a very impressive young man. Glad to know there's still young people out there like him. Sam
Mike G in SC Posted September 19, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 19, 2011 Wow, and it's a "stealth",, and we could see it!! kidding. That is too impressive! Back in the day,1970, I was stationed in KS and got to see a SR71, up close, come and go,, and we didn't even know we had such a bird. Pilot was greatfull for repairs and put on quite a show on his departure. Double afterburners, disappeared at a 80 degree angle in a clear blue sky! My grandson is a F22 crewchief at Langley, same place I was stationed in '73. Yep, you must be proud. Semper Fly! Mike G in SC

DragonRider Posted September 19, 2011 Share #10 Posted September 19, 2011 That was an awesome video. I know how proud you guys are of Jason, heck I am proud to know the parents and the son who flies that awesome bird. I hope Jason will be able to make St. Jude this year. It was an honor meeting him and riding with him the last two times he made it. Air shows are one of my favorite events to attend, they are awesome, and it puts on display our service people and equipment so we can actually see them in action. I used to go to all of the air shows when we lived in NOLA close to Belle Chase Naval Air Station. I also went to one at Barksdale AFB when we lived in Shreveport, La. Looking forward to seeing you guys in Memphis.................
1 - UP Posted September 19, 2011 Share #11 Posted September 19, 2011 What a great show of power. Being proud is probably an understatement for what you feel when you see him fly. Heck, I'm proud and I only know his parents. Tell him "Thank you" for me. Ken 1 - UP
b2dad Posted September 19, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted September 19, 2011 Thanks for looking at the video and posting here. Yes, we are so proud of him. Lewis: Unfortunately, he cannot make it to St. Jude this year. His schedule is too full. He said to tell you hello and maybe next year he can ride with us. Marcarl: Official Instructor, yes, yes, yes. LOL
