Midrsv Posted December 20, 2007 #1 Posted December 20, 2007 Has anyone ever seen or used one of these trailers? http://www.discount-trailers.com/motorcycle_trailer.htm I've been thinking about either building or buying a 5x10 trailer. I saw this and it interests me because it would fit through my basement door (60" width) for storage. My concerns with the design are the relatively narrow track which may be mitigated by the low center of gravity. Also, I don't know how sturdy the trailer would be without a full frame. Would the diamond plate flex? Just curious. DT
BradT Posted December 20, 2007 #2 Posted December 20, 2007 Just two cents but I doubt the checker plate will flex as there many formed edges which would give it some strength. Personally with the weight of our bikes I would like a trailer with a little more, in the axle and tire rating. Nice little trailer though. Brad
muffinman Posted December 20, 2007 #3 Posted December 20, 2007 Dennis if I were you I would look into the trailer that Bildar has its about the same size and very light. It would probably fit in the basement as well.I use a 5x10 landscpe type trailer when I move from job to job behind my rv and can get 2 bikes on it at one time although it is a tight fit. I am sure bill will give you info on the trailer if you ask. Here is a link with pics of his trailer being unloaded. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16921 Jeff

I'm holding out for an enclosed within the next 5 years. Jay
Guest KitCarson Posted December 20, 2007 #5 Posted December 20, 2007 Does that girl come with the trailer?? Who cares if the trailer flexes.....just throw the trailer away and keep the girl:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Freebird Posted December 20, 2007 #6 Posted December 20, 2007 I know now that I am truly getting old. Didn't see the girl. Had to go back and look again. As for the trailer, I think it looks pretty nice. Looks to be pretty well built.

One of my big concerns is the number of bolts that it takes to put it together with. Would you have to go over the thing before every use and check the torque on all of them? And Don, I know you're getting old, so let me make this easy for you.... http://www.discount-trailers.com/images2/motorcycle-trailer-12.jpg Dennis

She don't look to good though, I doubt whether she can ride, doesn't look like she can cook, and she looks quite new so I really wonder if she's ever done floors. Maybe if I got her she could go out to get the mail, but then what would the dog do. Nah best leave her where she's at, don't look all that useful to me.
SteveW Posted December 20, 2007 #9 Posted December 20, 2007 you could always get the one I'm selling it holds the 2005 RSV just fine and you can stand it up and roll it in any door.

Looks like a very nice trailer, but has only one purpose to haul the bike.......I like a simple landscape trailer a 5 by 10 can haul two bikes......do not remember where I got it......but bought this pre-made metal rail you bolt down to the landscape trailer , has a channel you run the tires into and a front wheel chock built into the front, I did not actually bolt it down, used large tractor pins.....re drilled the pin holes to fit and took the play out of the pins......can simply remove the channel and use the trailer for other things also....is kinda a pain putting the clips into the pins have to reach under the trailer and stand on your head ......Kit
flb_78 Posted December 21, 2007 #11 Posted December 21, 2007 I'd like to see a video of this trailer with a big bike being loaded because I don't see where you put your feet when the bike is on the trailer and it's a LONG way down to the ground. In the pics with the big bikes, it looks like the floorboards are wider than the trailer itself. Just a concern. Other than that, it appears to be an excellent trailer for a motorcycle. Just make sure you have it shipped to a business and save yourself 100 bux in shipping costs.
