Dmnordin Posted September 17, 2011 #32 Posted September 17, 2011 My original '83 had 46K, the '83 parts bike had 63K, and the '86 engine had over 200K according to the previous owner... since it is now a frankenbike with parts from all 3...Not sure how to figure that one out! It sure runs GREAT with that V-boost in it!! Doug

Shorty Posted September 17, 2011 #35 Posted September 17, 2011 I'm not an owner of a first gen. but I'm surprised not to find much highers numbers. I know when I was looking to buy a RSTD in July I saw many second gen. with 50-80k on them. With that being said I expected to see many 100-200k numbers for second gen. I live in Florida and am not an Iron butt rider, a 50-75 mile ride (one way) is a long ride for me and the wife. We do have the ability to ride year round and we ride around 7-10k a year. So if you take a 1983 bike at 5k a year which is I think a low average it should have 140k on it. (28years x 5,000 miles = 140,000 miles) Enough said and God Bless, Jerry I bought my 88 VR with 48,500 miles on it and it had two previous owners; I've put another 78,200 in the last eight years... Total Miles 126,700:dancefool:
Krazykarl Posted September 17, 2011 #37 Posted September 17, 2011 Mine has 63,000 miles, put 5k on so far this year.
MasterGuns Posted September 17, 2011 #38 Posted September 17, 2011 Not enough to want a 2nd gen. 86 w/ a 89 motor
Evan Posted September 17, 2011 #39 Posted September 17, 2011 My 88 now has almost 165,000 kms which is over 100,000 miles. Just goet home today from a five week 13,000km ride and it didn't skip a beat along the way.
Lil Venturous Posted September 18, 2011 #40 Posted September 18, 2011 Not Enough, I dont have time to ride. The 86 has around 30,000 I think. Too tired to walk the flight of stairs and see.

saddlebum Posted September 19, 2011 #45 Posted September 19, 2011 110,000 km (approx 68,000mi) assuming it has not gone over the top once before I acquired it.
fishrepair Posted September 19, 2011 #46 Posted September 19, 2011 My 1986 V.R. has 237112 miles on it. When I get to 300000 I think I will sell it or trade it off.
GolfVenture Posted September 19, 2011 Author #47 Posted September 19, 2011 An 1986 V.R. with 237112 miles. Maybe this organization should create a Pass Around Trophy and present it to the one with the most official miles on the speedometer at the end of the year . Then Pass it on respectivelly yearly. Well in this case you'll proabaly be keeping it for a few years or more like decades.
Stanman Posted September 19, 2011 #48 Posted September 19, 2011 My 86 has just over 70,000 km (43,800 mi) , but I found out his summer that it is not accurate. It only records 1.2 km/mi instead of 1.6 km/mi. According to my math that could be an extra 17,500 km or almost 11,000 miles.
