12:00 is neither AM or PM.

AM - Ante Midi - before midday

PM - Post Midi - after midday

The correct usage is 12:00 noon or 12:00 midnight.

12:00 noon is midday (Midi) and thus is neither Ante Midi nor Post Midi. 12:00 midnight is equidistant from 12:00 noon either Ante or Post, and thus is neither, or both, depending on the horological standard consulted.

Sorry, you pushed the button on a pet peeve of mine. :mustache:

I stand corrected, or at least improved upon. The reference I have lists Midi as a more modern usage, originating in France.

Yours, I believe, is the original Latin?

They've been making second gens basically identical (minor mods only seat, colors,cd player etc...) for the past 13 years (1999-2011). Why would anyone in their right mind expect them to change their way now?

Ok I give ..

Heres a pic of a new 2012 RSV...

Either that or I'm just an old fart :backinmyday: who's never heard of the "new" version.

It's also a pet peeve of mine; however, it is commonly referred to 12AM when it is midnight and 12PM when it is noon.

I thought midnight was 2400 hours.

I have been told that for 30+ years but I have found out you can be told things for years and still be wrong and belive me I have been wrong before so I looked it up on the NIST site (http://www.nist.gov/pml/div688/times.cfm) and this is what they have to say about it:

Is midnight the end of a day or the beginning of a day?

When someone refers to "midnight tonight" or "midnight last night" the reference of time is obvious. However, if a date/time is referred to as "at midnight on Friday, October 20th" the intention could be either midnight the beginning of the day or midnight at the end of the day.

To avoid ambiguity, specification of an event as occurring on a particular day at 11:59 p.m. or 12:01 a.m. is a good idea, especially legal documents such as contracts and insurance policies. Another option would be to use 24-hour clock, using the designation of 0000 to refer to midnight at the beginning of a given day (or date) and 2400 to designate the end of a given day (or date).

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. A redesigned Venture would lower the value and future aftermarket health of the current crop of 2nd gen ventures.

Why would anyone want that?

If you want to ride a different bike...go ride one!

Or so it seems to me.

I have noticed the Yamaha site has more goodies for the RSV than they had last time I checked.

With the 2nd gen you can repaint it every year to the current color and folks think you have a brand new bike. :innocent:
