RedRider Posted September 14, 2011 #7 Posted September 14, 2011 soooo,....... is 12:00am est midnight or noon? Time is best shown in 24h time... Brian 12:00 am is midnight. However, the news release is 12:00 pm - noon. RR
Jactana Posted September 14, 2011 #9 Posted September 14, 2011 Its only a 950 twin That model has been on there site for weeks, along with the 2012 Tenere. Ron
TARHEEL RIDER Posted September 14, 2011 Author #10 Posted September 14, 2011 it looks like they are cleaning out left over 09's and 11's for the venture.
Stache Posted September 14, 2011 #12 Posted September 14, 2011 12:00 am is midnight. However, the news release is 12:00 pm - noon. RR 12:00 is neither AM or PM. AM - Ante Midi - before midday PM - Post Midi - after midday The correct usage is 12:00 noon or 12:00 midnight. 12:00 noon is midday (Midi) and thus is neither Ante Midi nor Post Midi. 12:00 midnight is equidistant from 12:00 noon either Ante or Post, and thus is neither, or both, depending on the horological standard consulted. Sorry, you pushed the button on a pet peeve of mine.
Freebird Posted September 14, 2011 #14 Posted September 14, 2011 I'll repeat my prediction. There will be NO new Venture. There may very well be no Venture at ALL.
gibvel Posted September 14, 2011 #15 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) 12:00 is neither AM or PM. AM - Ante Midi - before midday PM - Post Midi - after midday Technically... ante meridiem post meridiem At least on this side of the world. Edited September 14, 2011 by gibvel
Stache Posted September 14, 2011 #16 Posted September 14, 2011 Technically... ante meridiem post meridiem I stand corrected, or at least improved upon. The reference I have lists Midi as a more modern usage, originating in France. Yours, I believe, is the original Latin?
CaptainJoe Posted September 14, 2011 #17 Posted September 14, 2011 They've been making second gens basically identical (minor mods only seat, colors,cd player etc...) for the past 13 years (1999-2011). Why would anyone in their right mind expect them to change their way now? Ok I give .. Heres a pic of a new 2012 RSV...

Yours, I believe, is the original Latin? Either that or I'm just an old fart who's never heard of the "new" version.
etcswjoe Posted September 14, 2011 #19 Posted September 14, 2011 There is only one 1200 hours that is midday, midnight is 0000
Prairiehammer Posted September 14, 2011 #20 Posted September 14, 2011 There is only one 1200 hours that is midday, midnight is 0000 I thought midnight was 2400 hours.
SilvrT Posted September 14, 2011 #21 Posted September 14, 2011 12:00 is neither AM or PM. Sorry, you pushed the button on a pet peeve of mine. It's also a pet peeve of mine; however, it is commonly referred to 12AM when it is midnight and 12PM when it is noon.
etcswjoe Posted September 14, 2011 #22 Posted September 14, 2011 I thought midnight was 2400 hours. I have been told that for 30+ years but I have found out you can be told things for years and still be wrong and belive me I have been wrong before so I looked it up on the NIST site (http://www.nist.gov/pml/div688/times.cfm) and this is what they have to say about it: Is midnight the end of a day or the beginning of a day? When someone refers to "midnight tonight" or "midnight last night" the reference of time is obvious. However, if a date/time is referred to as "at midnight on Friday, October 20th" the intention could be either midnight the beginning of the day or midnight at the end of the day. To avoid ambiguity, specification of an event as occurring on a particular day at 11:59 p.m. or 12:01 a.m. is a good idea, especially legal documents such as contracts and insurance policies. Another option would be to use 24-hour clock, using the designation of 0000 to refer to midnight at the beginning of a given day (or date) and 2400 to designate the end of a given day (or date).
Guest tx2sturgis Posted September 14, 2011 #23 Posted September 14, 2011 I've said this before, and I'll say it again. A redesigned Venture would lower the value and future aftermarket health of the current crop of 2nd gen ventures. Why would anyone want that? If you want to ride a different bike...go ride one! Or so it seems to me.

Or so it seems to me. I have noticed the Yamaha site has more goodies for the RSV than they had last time I checked. With the 2nd gen you can repaint it every year to the current color and folks think you have a brand new bike. 2012 RS Venture http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelspecs/406/0/specs.aspx Edited September 14, 2011 by etcswjoe
