Richie R Posted September 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2011 On my 01 venture I want to put our rain suits in the lids. What is a good way to do it? I tried sticky velcro but it peels off after a while then I have to clean the glue off and do it again. Thanks Richie R
Sideoftheroad Posted September 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2011 Interesting idea. Well not sure about a good way but use that stretchy material like what suspenders are made of and criss cross them like a shoe lace type pattern. Not sure about how to mount it though. M61A1MECH Posted September 13, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) If you install the guards that go on top of the bags, maybe you could utilize the mounting hardware on the inside of the lid? But the stick on Velcro may still be the answer, but you may have to get an industrial strength version. See this link below and review the differences in the adhesives I copied off their site. the Adhesive 0174 looks the best to me, but may be hard to find. http://www.hookandloop.com/site/product_definitions.cfm Try this link to McMaster Carr also and search for this catalog number 94985K811 http://www.mcmaster.com Adhesives PRESSURE SENSITIVE (PS) - The adhesive type of VELCRO ® brand tape which has a peel-off backing. The tape is also sold under the STICKY BACK ® Brand name. Adhesive 0172 - An acrylic PS adhesive used in most applications. This adhesive is the standard that comes on most tapes and has RED logos printed on the peel-off tape. Adhesive 0115 - An olefin based PS adhesive with high strength but low temperature applications, and has BLUE logos printed on the peel-off tape. Adhesive 0174 - A new high performance PS adhesive for use in high temperature and outdoor applications. Limited availability. 0140PRECOAT - This "dry" adhesive is pre-coated on the tape for later activation by ultrasonic sealing or with a solvent such as acetone. This is the tape to use in conjunction with liquid adhesive for a most secure bond. FreezyRider Posted September 13, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 13, 2011 I think I'd try to modify and mount something like these inside the lids: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/76/28955/ITEM/Vega-Bungee-Net.aspx You'd have to play around a bit but sure you could figure out how to mount them.
