saddlebum Posted September 9, 2011 #1 Posted September 9, 2011 Looking at M/C 1/2 covers and have my eye on these two so far http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/117/36883/ITEM/Show-Chrome-Ultragard-Classic-Half-Cover.aspx http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/117/1471/ITEM/Dowco-Guardian-Traveler-Cover.aspx Both are sold by Motorcycle Super Store. The price looks not bad and the reviews are pretty positive. Has any one had any experience with these or the store itself. Have any Canadian members purchased from this company and what was your experience in dealing with them with regards to cross border shipping.
Snaggletooth Posted September 9, 2011 #2 Posted September 9, 2011 I picked up a new Ultragard 1/2 cover two years ago off eBay for $26.00. It lives in the saddlebag and gets used every day during the riding season. The bike gets covered at work rain or shine. It's not stated to be waterproof but it's damn close. With the rains we have had this year it has been well tested. I have the lambskin cover on the seat and it's always bone dry under the cover. I'll admit after the last two years it's starting to show some sun fade in spots but not too bad. No weak spots or tears and it's been out in some heavy winds. Packs down tight to a little smaller than a football and takes less than a mintue to throw it on. I'd buy another one when this one gives out whenever that might be. The brand seems tough enough. Shamue Posted September 9, 2011 #3 Posted September 9, 2011 I have a use the traveler. Have had it 2 yrs. and still holds up. Like it for the coverage, I can have a bag on the luggage rack and put my helments on the seats and no one knows anthing is there. After it has been used in the sun it discolors a bit. I use scotch guard once in awhile to keep it water repellant. sarges46 Posted September 9, 2011 #4 Posted September 9, 2011 many things from these guys and they are great to deal with. Now, I don't anything shipped to Canada as we are close to the border and there is a place just across the line that I can ship to. So in that regards I can't help you. Whatever you do...do not ship to Canada UPS or FedEx. You will pay a bundle in fees trust me on this from one who paid 45 bucks brokerage fee for a 25 dollar item! Straight USPS is good if they will do it. But its going to cost you more to ship to Canada...be aware.
eds Posted September 9, 2011 #5 Posted September 9, 2011 Saddlebum: If shipping becomes an issue have it shipped to my house. I am just outside Buffalo, NY. We can arrange to meet for exchange on one side or other of the border.
Mike G in SC Posted September 9, 2011 #6 Posted September 9, 2011 One word,,, EXIGENT Covers ! Check out "EXIGENT" Covers. http://www.exigentbikecovers.com/ He makes 1/2 covers for the Venture $52. The owner makes them and then goes to rallys. I got mine at the Outer Banks bike thing last Easter. They are made from black sport parachute nylon and, I think lifetime warranty. If it rips, you send it back to him. He has a demo "bag" full of water to show the material won't leak thru. Mine fits in it's own pouch that takes up about the same size a rain pants. I'm real happy with mine. As it's a half cover, I don't worry about the pipes (but it might melt on really hot pipes). Read their web info. Evan Posted September 10, 2011 #9 Posted September 10, 2011 Ben, I bought a Nelson Rigg half cover based on previous feedback from members. It fits our 1st gens really well and also fits in a small pouch. I have used it every night so far (almost 28 nights) on our Venture West and it is a treat to have a dry bike in the morning and I also feel safer leaving the bike parked.

alwrmcusn Posted September 10, 2011 #11 Posted September 10, 2011 I bought the Nelson Rigg 1/2 cover after seeing it on BMW dresser. Packs small, quick & easy to put on my Venture. I have three flag poles on the trunk rack that I just fold down and the 1/2 cover does not require folding the CB or AM/FM antennas.

I really liked it but two winters ago it got covered in raccoon urine and I had to chuck it.
