ediddy Posted September 9, 2011 #1 Posted September 9, 2011 I have an 05 venture. When I set the clock to the correct time and turn the ignition switch off the clock resets to 1:00. It has never done this before. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thanks,
utadventure Posted September 9, 2011 #2 Posted September 9, 2011 Usually there is a power supply line to the clock that goes directly to the battery (doesn't go through the ignition). Likely you have a blown fuse on that line. Dave
Steel Horse Cowboy Posted September 9, 2011 #3 Posted September 9, 2011 Have a load test done on your battery. Mine was doing the same thing and the battery was going bad. It still started the scooter but would reset the clock. C.R.
ACE50 Posted September 9, 2011 #5 Posted September 9, 2011 Clock! what clock, where is it? I read something that says Ventures have one but haven't seen one! What am I missing?
V7Goose Posted September 9, 2011 #6 Posted September 9, 2011 Your problem is a blown "Backup" fuse in the main fuse box under the left battery cover. Goose
MikeWa Posted September 9, 2011 #7 Posted September 9, 2011 Clock! what clock, where is it? I read something that says Ventures have one but haven't seen one! What am I missing? Ace Hold down both buttons where you change your trip meter the clock will come up. Mike

ACE50 Posted September 9, 2011 #10 Posted September 9, 2011 Hey, that was easier than me looking it up!! Thanks
XV1100SE Posted September 9, 2011 #11 Posted September 9, 2011 Hey, that was easier than me looking it up!! Thanks NP. Like radio station presets it is one of those things I have to look up myself when I disconnect the battery and have to reset them.
ACE50 Posted September 9, 2011 #13 Posted September 9, 2011 I think they should have made the numbers half as small cause they are just too easy to read! Not!
RedRider Posted September 9, 2011 #14 Posted September 9, 2011 NP. Like radio station presets it is one of those things I have to look up myself when I disconnect the battery and have to reset them. My local O'Reilly's Auto filled me in on how to avoid the clock/radio resetting when changing batteries. Hook up another battery with jumper cables (or a battery charger) to the battery cables. Disconnect the battery cables, change battery, reconnect cables, remove other battery. I did this on my wife's truck using the jumper points (seperate clamping locations for connecting jumper cables) and it worked great. RR
flb_78 Posted September 9, 2011 #15 Posted September 9, 2011 A 9 volt battery on a cig lighter plug with the key left turned on while the battery is changed works as well. Just remember, tip is positive on the cig lighter plug.
Kirby Posted September 9, 2011 #16 Posted September 9, 2011 Ace Hold down both buttons where you change your trip meter the clock will come up. Mike Just hold down the "select" button for at least 2 seconds to bring up the clock. Hold down both "select" and "reset" buttons for at least 2 seconds to set or reset the clock. So simple a caveman can do it!!
ediddy Posted September 12, 2011 Author #17 Posted September 12, 2011 Thanks for the help. I had a blown 5 amp fuse located in the cowling and like V7goose said the backup fuse at the left side cover was blown.
