Sailor Posted September 6, 2011 #1 Posted September 6, 2011 Not that kind, the pathetic one on the bike. I am sure it has been discussed before but I want to upgrade and am looking at Stebel nautilus or Wolo Bad Boy as they seem to be the closest fit. Any opinions (silly question) as to which is best and easiest fit?
elmicko Posted September 6, 2011 #2 Posted September 6, 2011 The measurements are pretty much the same for both. I have the Wolo Bad Boy and I'm very happy with it. I've heard others say the Stebel is louder, but I don't know that for sure. I know mine is loud as crap!!
bendtdj Posted September 6, 2011 #3 Posted September 6, 2011 I, too, have the BadBoy on my 1984. Loud!!!!!!!! I mounted it on the Right side of the bike where the OEM horn was mounted. I made up some jumpers and mounted the displaced horn on the Left side of the bike. The combination made it about an inch short of being completely obnoxious. But to me, that is a good thing. Dave
SilvrT Posted September 6, 2011 #4 Posted September 6, 2011 Kerry... you saw and heard mine (Stebel) ... plenty loud enuf (most of the time), and mounting was no problem even where I put it...which I thought was easier than replacing the stock horn. About the only thing better IMHO would be a second one on the left side.
Sailor Posted September 7, 2011 Author #5 Posted September 7, 2011 Rick, I saw that it was down on the right side. Did you need any adapters for it? I am sick and tired of pedestrians walking out in front of our Santa run and the idiots who claim they did not see you. Who can not see 100 bikes coming at them with engines revving and horns blowing? Idiots.

Kerry... here's where I documented the installation of my Stebel horn... http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41530&highlight=stebel

Carbon_One Posted September 8, 2011 #8 Posted September 8, 2011 Thanks Rick and others. I will o for it. If you want to make life easy doing the install I have a plug & play wiring harness & stainless steel horn bracket available. Here's a link to them - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=202 Larry
Trader Posted September 8, 2011 #9 Posted September 8, 2011 on my 88 VR the PO has a set of air horns mounted UNDERNEATH the saddlebags with the air pump under the trunk. The horns are out of the way but they are facing backwards...so I have to do something about that. I can't just turn them around or they will just plug up or drown from road spray! Would it be too far a run if I left the compressor under the trunk but mounted the horns up front...I'm thinking where the TCI used to be (if they fit)
