Just checked it again. I have the new version when I am in a 'Post' screen, loke this one.

But when I am at my home page http://www.venturerider.org/modules/Jig/index.php I see the old version. Think this is the Watering Hole.

What do I do to fix this?

Gary

Ohhhhhhh.....well why didn't you say so. :) That is an entirely different thing. Different menu bar, different software, different everything. :) As you may have noticed, it doesn't show up there. I can probably fix that though.

I'm SOOOOOO sorry, My Bad, I didn't realize you were a whiny IT person !!

Hey Don, Search doesn't work at my home page. Do I get a new trouble ticket for this new request, then go back into the Que for another month????

In Firefox 6.1, the instructions say to go here to clear cache:

"Options/Privacy/History"

:)

Yes, but there is a shortcut as I said above. Right under tools, clear recent browsing history and make sure that cache is checked.

The only issue I have with it is that some of my favorite old software will not work on this Windows 7 64 bit system. So, I'm looking for a few new software titles to replace some that I've been using for a long time and haven't found any that I like quite as well yet.

Don, depending on the "old" software, there are ways of making them work in Win7. As a tech, I have found that out and have solved a number of incompatability issues here at work which has saved this company a lot of money and grief.

PM me on this if you wish, I'd be happy to help if I can.

No problem my friend. It should be there now. :)

All you had to do was ask. :whistling:

Well that settles that, Now I know your not an IT person. Nothing gets fixed that fast with the Ivory Tower boys.

Thank You,

I sent you a PM but don't spend much time worrying about it. I have tried a lot of things so far and it just doesn't seem to want to work.

I tell you though, this new computer is pretty nice. My company provides my laptop and I was due a new one. The old one was a Dell Latitude with a 120 GB drive, Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of ram, 15" screen. I told them that I would like to have a bit better one this time and ended up with:

Dell Vostro. Intel Quad Core I7, 6 GB Ram, 1 GB Nvidia graphics card, 500 GB 7200 RPM drive, 17.3" screen, back lit keyboard, lots of other goodies. It's a business class laptop with aluminum top, bottom and etc. It is a bit heavy but really a nice machine. Shipped with Office 2010 and some other software that is actually useful and basically NO bloatwear like you find on most consumer laptops.

Sometimes a different point of view helps (as in 2 heads are better than 1)

We use the Vostro desktops here at work. Are you using Windows 7 Professional or Home?

Well I'll put in my 2 cents.

I don't care for the classifieds the way they are now. Much to much clutter on the page.

I think there is to much "stuff" here the way it is with all the "stickies" etc going on on the page.

But of course I can always work around whatever is here.

so with the "NEW" system....vendor ads would just be a "sticky" and not expire at all?

Nothing wrong with that!

And as was already suggested....for the rest of us.....it takes nothing to copy and paste the ad text from your computer to a new ad if it hasn't sold and expires.

Yes, me too. The vendors have enough to take care of anyway. If it is easier for them, then great. I would also definitely keep a copy of an add on my lap top if I added one.

What bothers me the most is this, some that have adds do not upgrade them sometimes to let you know the product is sold already. Seems to me that if you where selling and sitting at the computer, you would just delete it completely. I know nothing much about this, but I think the seller should be able to delete with a delete button and it would completely be gone. Thanks Don for what you do here.

My vote is for whatever is easiest for Don to implement into the system.

Would there be a way to use the old system yet have a "stickie" for the member vendors like myself at the top that didn't expire?

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

This thread got hicjacked! I thought it was about some question about classified ads.

Oh well it doesn't really matter to me but I kind of like the old way better. Whatever is easier for you.

Yea, it did get hijacked. Sorry about that but let's get back on track now. Still looking for input on the classifieds. So far, it sounds like MOST like the old system better. Still want to hear from more of you though.

What do you mean Hijacked? It was your thread and you took that exit with me !!

He did, didn't he:rasberry:. It was interesting anyway:whistling::confused24:

Always fun when they get side tracked.

My vote is the Old way, hate changes. I think my next computer will also be Windows 7 and not sure I am going to like it.
