utadventure Posted December 16, 2007 #1 Posted December 16, 2007 DanJ and I got together yesterday to exchange our Guardian Bell (Don, they're great looking!!) and had a bite of lunch together (thanks Dan for the burger) and just talked about life and how great our 1st Gens are. So, does this mean we've had the first Utah meet and eat? How about it Utahns, are there enough of us interested in getting together occasionally to eat and enjoy the great company?
petekadish Posted December 16, 2007 #2 Posted December 16, 2007 You might have had the first Meet & Eat for this last week, but there are a whole bunch of us Star Riders (many with Ventures) who meet, eat and ride regularly here in Salt Lake & Utah County. Actually, there's a little less riding lately. Apparently some people seem to be uncomfortable riding in temperatures in the teens. Check out our chapter web site at: http://www.starutah.org/SLC_NEW/index.htm The pictures on the front page are of our chapter Christmas party which we held in Salt Lake this last week. Congratulations on the new bike & Merry Christmas! Pete & Sandy

I bet they'll accept 2ndGens.... even if 2's take a little longer to get there.....
muffinman Posted December 16, 2007 #4 Posted December 16, 2007 David I would say Yes.Anytime you can get together with a member of this site is a great time.Post it and they will show up the more times you do it the more that will be able to show up. Jeff
petekadish Posted December 16, 2007 #5 Posted December 16, 2007 Longer to get there . . .? Oh yea, he's making reference to the fact that those of us second gen. riders tend to take the longer route sometimes because it's just so dang enjoyable to ride the new and improved version Let's keep the communication lines open so we can begin talking about getting together. I always enjoy meeting some new riding buddies. Be warm! Pete.

utadventure Posted December 17, 2007 Author #7 Posted December 17, 2007 Pete- Thanks for the invitation to ride with the Star group. I've looked at their site and haven't been able to justify with myself the value of the membership. I'm sure that for many it works great but, for me, I don't think it works. But as Condor says, would they like to come and join with us? For me, venturerider.org has been great to share info on maintenence, safety and fun (and the cost of all this is exceptional) I hope a few more of the Utahn's will chime in and let us know if you're interested!! So Pete, are you interested in a Meet & Eat after the first of the year while we wait for the snow to melt away (or just pile deeper)?
petekadish Posted December 17, 2007 #8 Posted December 17, 2007 Hey Dave! (This is Dave, right?) Just so you're aware . . . there's no membership dues for someone to come ride with a Star Chapter. We always welcome anyone to go on rides or attend events with us. If it's more an issue of riding with groups (more than just a few friends), I understand that. I have a couple of close friends who I ride with all the time, but they aren't interested in the group-riding thing. Personally, I like just about any excuse to ride as long as people are safe and "attitudes" are left at home. I have a feeling that there are a lot of people who think that most organized riding clubs are full of lots of rough stereotypical biker-gang types. And, sure sometimes that's all too true. However, most of the people I know and ride with, are middle-age, church-going folks who just enjoy riding and like to share their interests with like-minded people. Of course not everyone I know and ride with goes to church, but everyone I ride with is always respectful of each other and understands the importance of being a good example of responsible riding. I say this because sometimes non bike-riding people are sometimes surprised when they find out that I ride, or that I ride with some people who look like like tough, biker-type guys. They'll comment to me that I just don't look like a biker, or as a friend of my like to think of himself as - A Riding Enthusiast. It's interesting though, most riders I have met don't show any surprise that I'm a pretty conservative guy who doesn't smoke, drink, etc. Fellow riders are just happy to meet another rider most of the time. And, isn't that the way it ought to be? I would be excited to join another meet & eat. Just let me know the details and in the meantime, let's hope it warms up soon. Be Safe! Pete.
petekadish Posted April 10, 2008 #10 Posted April 10, 2008 Dave & Mike, you guys are two of four new people who have commented on wanting to get in touch for some sort of an unofficial meet & eat. Unofficial, meaning that it's just a handful of fun folks and friends who would like to get together for a ride and a little socializing. I will be happy to try and organize something like that if we can stir up some local interest. E-Mail me guys. Let's stay in touch. Nothing says that there has to be dues, or an organization to ride together and have fun. And, it's all about having fun, right? Thanks & Be Safe! Pete.
