jachuck49 Posted August 23, 2011 #1 Posted August 23, 2011 This is on my '84...Once it gets warmed up,it wants to bogg/stall out. When I come to a stop and crack the throttle..it'll act like it's out of gas. It always starts back up though. It never does this until I've gone about 20/30 miles. If I keep it reved up,say 1200 plus RPM it won't stall. It almost acts like you've got the choke on???? It just started doing this all of a sudden.I've run about a half can of sea-foam thur it in hopes that would cure it....no luck.I appreciate your help.
jachuck49 Posted August 25, 2011 Author #2 Posted August 25, 2011 Comon guys,I really need your help!!
bkuhr Posted August 25, 2011 #3 Posted August 25, 2011 My first thought is to check for vacum leaks. During idle spray carb cleaner everywhere under carbs listening for rpm change. If so pinpoint it. maybe blew off sync plug, cracked vac line, etc.
tcoop Posted August 25, 2011 #4 Posted August 25, 2011 Could be a partly clogged fuel filter or maybe pump starting to go bad? If it was a gravity feed I would think tank vent is clogged.
V7Goose Posted August 25, 2011 #5 Posted August 25, 2011 Your symptoms perfectly describe how an engine with CV carbs will behave when the idle jets are badly plugged. Goose
jachuck49 Posted August 27, 2011 Author #6 Posted August 27, 2011 Thanks a lot for the help...as soon as I can,I'll let you know what the problem was...Thanks again.
Yammer Dan Posted August 27, 2011 #7 Posted August 27, 2011 Been doing the Sea-Foam Diet? Sea-Foam is not for when you have problems but prevents problems. It will work sometimes after things get plugged up IF YOU ARE LUCKY. If you use it regulary it will prevent most fuel problems. Once you have the problem you can saturate the carbs with Sea-Foam and hope. It will still do the job a lot of times but must soak its way thru the junk that has built up over time. A little Sea-Foam every other tank or something like that and you wouldn't have the problem. It is cheaper to maintain than try to play catch up.
Darren Posted August 27, 2011 #8 Posted August 27, 2011 Question, does it back fire? If it 's like the choke is on, what color is the exhaust? before and after it starts 'acting up'.
