Trader Posted August 22, 2011 #1 Posted August 22, 2011 I got the lower steering bearing pressed on, and the bearing races in. I can start putting everything back together again. Obviously I have to pack the bearings...but other than that is there ANYTHING I should be aware of or is it pretty much just do the reverse of what I did to take it apart?
dingy Posted August 22, 2011 #2 Posted August 22, 2011 Getting the air crossover ports on and oriented is a little bit of a chore. A little lube on the o-rings in the ports will help them start and slid on. When you clamp them down, check that they are even at the top tree. Fluid level should be at 5 1/2" with forks compressed and springs in tubes if using progressives. Gary
Trader Posted August 23, 2011 Author #3 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) OK....I"m lost already! I have this rubber castled washer that I very carefully saved with the triple tree hardware. As you can see in the manual, it is not shown. It fits perfectly on the OUTSIDE of the ring nuts. So where does this go? It is most definitatly NOT washer #4 And PLEASE don't tell me it belongs under the lower bearing!!!:bang head: Edited August 23, 2011 by Trader
dingy Posted August 23, 2011 #4 Posted August 23, 2011 You should have 2 of them. Goes just above the air port castings on each fork. P/N 26H-23163-00-00 It's #78 on partshark.com - 1987 version - Front Forks Gary
