Just Doug Posted August 20, 2011 #1 Posted August 20, 2011 I got my 83 venture the 4th of July. After running a couple of tanks with sea foam in it I was getting 40 mpg. Now getting 37 mpg or a little less, I thought I might be running into some problems. Looking into a few things my problem is self inflickted. The more I ride the more comfort I have in the bike. So my driving a little harder and faster is more then likly the problem. Things are not as they seam.
friesman Posted August 20, 2011 #2 Posted August 20, 2011 the same thing happens to me, the better the bike runs, the more my mileage drops.....and the more tired my wrist gets.....I wonder if they are connected.... brian
Venturous Randy Posted August 20, 2011 #3 Posted August 20, 2011 Doug, you are probably about normal on your gas mileage if you are riding pretty aggressive or at interstate speeds. On my trip this week when I was two up and running a lot of mountain roads, I averaged about 46mpg. But if I am running constant interstate speeds at 70 to 75 mph, I will drop down closer to 40mpg. The biggest thing I did to help my gas mileage was to tweek on the needle depth on the slides. I believe I changed mine about .030 deeper and anything more than that caused some hesitation. RandyA
