1BigDog Posted August 19, 2011 #1 Posted August 19, 2011 Bob Myers made a tool that seats the bushings and seals on the 2nd gen forks, It was decided to pass it around to the members as needed, with the last possessor paying the shipping. FLB was the first, and im the second. I just finished assembling the fork legs and in a few days ill be adding the fork oil. Once im sure its not leaking ill post the tools availability. So, if your planning on rebuilding/re-sealing your front forks on a 2nd gen, this tool is indispensable. It worked like a charm. Thanks again, Bob and Forrest.... Attached Thumbnails
utadventure Posted August 19, 2011 #2 Posted August 19, 2011 Bob, any chance you designed a tool to work with the 1st Gens? Dave
Sylvester Posted August 19, 2011 #3 Posted August 19, 2011 What are the chances of him building another and selling it? I could keep one busy with all my friends with RSV and RSTD bikes.
flb_78 Posted August 19, 2011 #4 Posted August 19, 2011 That tool is perfect for fork work on the 43mm forks, as 1 side is used for driving in the oil seals and the other is used for driving in the dust seals. 2 tools in 1!!
Bob Myers Posted August 19, 2011 #5 Posted August 19, 2011 Ruffy, are you capable of making a detailed drawing of it? I have forgotten most of the dimensioning. Forrest and I changed it some after the first run, and we did not document the latest/greatest version of it. Dave, I can do so, give me a couple weeks to either dig this hole deeper or get out of it. I am covered up at work right now. In fact, I'll likely pull another 12 tomorrow and 8 on Sunday, just trying to finish off stuff from July.
flb_78 Posted August 19, 2011 #6 Posted August 19, 2011 It might be easiest, if no one needs it right right now, to just mail it back to you Bob. USPS flat rate box is only $5 or so.
Bob Myers Posted August 19, 2011 #7 Posted August 19, 2011 Good idea Forrest, I would likely make that one over any way. It just didn't suit me for fit and finish if you remember. Any one that wants this loaner tool or a personal version of it can post in this thread or PM me. Myers Machine 724 Westland Dr Lexington, Ky40504
flb_78 Posted August 19, 2011 #8 Posted August 19, 2011 Really? It's better than anything I could ever do! I thought it was quite excellent!! Damn perfectionist.
gscbertrand Posted August 20, 2011 #9 Posted August 20, 2011 I would really like 1 of those tools for the first gen's. But I can't spend any more money on the bike this month and would have to wait until the middle of September before ordering it. Great looking tool, very nice indeed.

Cant see where it would need any more improvements. Ill get it in the mail once I fill the forks and make sure I have no leaks. Should be no later then Wed.

Even if you have the specs (drawings) on it. I can have my friend make one in his shop. Dave
Guest Posted August 27, 2011 #15 Posted August 27, 2011 Part shipped Thursday so you should have it by Monday.
KIC Posted December 22, 2011 #16 Posted December 22, 2011 Are there any special tools needed for the 1st Gen front fork seals ?
RedRider Posted December 22, 2011 #17 Posted December 22, 2011 I will buy one if you make a few for sale. If not, I would appreciate being put on the list for February. Don't think I will get to the forks until then. RR
Bob Myers Posted December 22, 2011 #18 Posted December 22, 2011 I do plan on making several in January, I'll keep you posted.
