Monty Posted August 18, 2011 #1 Posted August 18, 2011 Heading out in a few to see my 2 Sons ship out for their 14 month deployment, which will take them to Kuwait and Afghanistan. They will be together, and I told them they had BETTER look out for each other. They will be going to Ft. Bliss, Texas first, for some training, then go overseas. We are so proud of our boys, but also a little worried. I'm sure they will come home safe to us, but there's still that worry in the back of your head. I think it will do them some good, and make better men out of them.
Freebird Posted August 18, 2011 #2 Posted August 18, 2011 And proud of them you should be. I understand your worry though. Please extend our best wishes to them both and thank them for their service. You have two fine looking young men there.
Squidley Posted August 18, 2011 #3 Posted August 18, 2011 Thank them for their service and the whole family's sacrifise. They may be the ones over there, but it definitely affects the whole family....Semper Fi.
MikeWa Posted August 18, 2011 #4 Posted August 18, 2011 Monty They look like a couple of fine young men. You should be proud of them. We all are. I wish you and them good fortune and a smooth journey. Mike
dogman Posted August 18, 2011 #5 Posted August 18, 2011 May God bless them and be with them during their tour. No matter what they will be doing over there, it will not be easy for them or yourself. Your family will definitely by in my thoughts and prayers.
Greekdog Posted August 18, 2011 #6 Posted August 18, 2011 My heart and prayers go out to you in this trying time. My son just recently returned from Iraq the first part of June. I thank the Lord for his safe return as this is a very dangerous part of the world. I know you're going to be waiting for any word fom your "boys" as we were. If they have computor access there...get a camera for your boys and one for your computor and load up Skype..Even though you can't touch them you will be able to see and talk to them. I pray for their safe return...
eagleeye Posted August 18, 2011 #7 Posted August 18, 2011 Monty, Shake your son's hands for me and thank them for their service to our country. I hope that they stay out of harms way, and I'm looking forward to you telling us that they are back home with their family. Steve

Carbon_One Posted August 18, 2011 #9 Posted August 18, 2011 Giving my thanks to your sons service to country & hope for their safe return as well. Larry
XV1100SE Posted August 18, 2011 #10 Posted August 18, 2011 Hope they have a quiet posting and return safely !
rumboogy Posted August 18, 2011 #11 Posted August 18, 2011 Tell an old Navy vet says, Thank You", Wally
exrsa1 Posted August 18, 2011 #12 Posted August 18, 2011 First, a hearty thank you to them for their service! Very much appreciated!! And to you Dad, you must be VERY proud! I am somewhat surprised that they will have them deploy together. My military carreer started in 1980 with the South African Forces and even back then they would not deploy siblings together. After that, in various other forms of military 'forces' I was part of, they had the same policy. Brian
lshafer Posted August 18, 2011 #13 Posted August 18, 2011 I HUGE thank you to them for their service. I have nothing but respect for any of our service men/women. They do a great thing for our county. I'm sure your sons will be safe and will come back perfectly fine and even better men than they are already.
BoomerCPO Posted August 18, 2011 #14 Posted August 18, 2011 Monty.....A big Bravo Zulu to your sons for serving our Country!! I hope they have a safe Tour and come home quick. Take care my friend. Boomer
Galapagos Posted August 18, 2011 #15 Posted August 18, 2011 I thank you gentlemen for your service to your country.
rickardracing Posted August 18, 2011 #16 Posted August 18, 2011 Do not worry if you do not hear from them on a regular basis. My son is in Kuwait and actually should be home in a week. He is a combat medic in the Army National Guard. He has had internet connection problems while there. I do believe some of it has to do with alot of the guys playing online games during their off time. Sucks up the bandwidth? Plus the time differance and actually being able to get ahold of you. I know I am proud as hell of him. Tell your boys from me "Thank You".
Vance Posted August 18, 2011 #17 Posted August 18, 2011 I share your concerns, Monty. My son deploys next month for a Forward Operating Base (FOB Shank) in Afganistan. Hopefully he will stay out of harms way, and return safely. Good luck to your sons, and thank them for their service in the Armed Forces.
myminpins Posted August 18, 2011 #19 Posted August 18, 2011 Wow, 14 months at a time? How horrible!! You should be very proud of them and it's great they're going together. That's a long time to be away from home. Thank your boys for doing an honorable job and we'll all be hoping they come home safe and sound.
Hummingbird Posted August 18, 2011 #20 Posted August 18, 2011 Monty - tell them we said THANKS for their service !! Dick & Linda
Sylvester Posted August 18, 2011 #21 Posted August 18, 2011 I am also proud of your two sons. Thank them for me!
Monty Posted August 18, 2011 Author #22 Posted August 18, 2011 Here is a quick video of their sendoff. The Patriot Guard had a pretty decent showing. They escorted them all the way to Memphis. That's about 150 miles.
cecdoo Posted August 18, 2011 #23 Posted August 18, 2011 Great send-off, Thanks for the video and Thank them for their service, you should be very proud. Craig
