Midrsv Posted August 18, 2011 #1 Posted August 18, 2011 I received my latest copy of Motorcycle Consumer News today and it had a review and comparison of the 2012 Goldwing and BMW 1600. The article rated the GW higher in most categories. I think the BMW had better brakes and better handling due to its lower mass. Interesting read if you get a chance. Dennis
OldBear Posted August 19, 2011 #2 Posted August 19, 2011 Read it and am inclined to agree. The wing is a heavy tourer, the BMW more of the "sport tour" type. Found the passenger comment interesting as well. I know that I looked HARD at BMW's in the past for us (RT and K1200LT) but neither of 'em had the passenger room/comfort of the Wing (or the Venture). Also seemed to me that storage space was more limited as well....
paysaw Posted August 19, 2011 #3 Posted August 19, 2011 I tend to agree with youi about the bikes.Although the BMW is nice and fast it does not seem to have enough creature comfort for me and the passenger. If you are going to spend upwards of 25-30k ,my money is on the GW hands down.
