Snaggletooth Posted August 16, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2011 Geesh, last summer it was one clocked at 142 MPH. Last fall it was one at 148 MPH. The other day the record was broken again. 158 MPH on a four lane road and Interstate. The only thing not running WOT is the brain. OMAHA, Neb. -- Jonathan Goodburn, 20, faces numerous charges after being clocked going 158 mph and leading police on a high-speed chase on his motorcycle. Now Goodburn and his family regret his split-second decision. Nebraska State Patrol troopers spotted Goodburn with a group of about 20 other motorcyclists driving at a high rate of speed near 156th Street and West Dodge Road Saturday night. Authorities eventually arrested him along Highway 36 near Cunningham Lake. Goodburn's mother, Chris Goodburn, admits her son made a major mistake by taking off and not stopping for police. "Once he got in far enough that he was already running, he was trying to figure out when he should stop," she said. Capt. Bret Friesz with the Nebraska State Patrol said the chase lasted 24 minutes and traveled 32 miles. Goodburn was clocked at 158 mph at one point. "It was probably a one-minute bad decision that drug out over 24 minutes," said Friesz. Goodburn called his mother from jail while KETV NewsWatch 7 was interviewing her Monday. "He says he's sorry that he put other people's lives in danger," said Chris Goodburn. She said the split-second decision cost her son his job. He was expected to be in court on Tuesday. Goodburn told his mother that he's learned his lesson. "His lesson that he'd want to share with everybody is don't do it, it's not worth it," said Chris Goodburn. Guest scarylarry Posted August 16, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2011 I wonder how much throttle he had left? None on the brain, the bike who knows... Wasn't this the state where the sport bike crash in the back of a semi trailer few years back where the rider was killed?

Sailor Posted August 17, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 17, 2011 I admit I was once younger and stupider. I had a Madura that hit the radar at 150 mph but they didn't catch me. I have since got older and a bit wiser and slowed down. Now I hardly ever go above 115 on the venture. I must admit when I was younger the sheer power was as addictive as any drug. OK, I am going to hate myself for asking this, but... How do you know they clocked you at a 150 if they didn't stop you?? I really don't hate myself after all, know what I am sayin' Dingy, who has seen the radar readout at 120MPH (193KPH btw), long time ago. Hit the back of the trailer so hard his helmet went through the door and that is where they found him hanging several miles down the road. Sadly, his friend had died a week or so earlier in a similar accident. Oddly enough stories were spread about how his helmet saved his life. Not much truth to that. yamtom Posted August 17, 2011 Share #8 Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Last year we had one in my home town. About one am, for whatever reason a local twenty year old went into town way over one hundred, on a sport bike, and slammed into the back of a womans car that had lawfully pulled out of a side street. He was beheaded. Its a town of only about five thousand, with three stop lights total and he ended it all at the center one. I can recall as a young man, hearing about some fool that ran thru town in the middle of the night at top speed, well here was one of those that didnt make it. As it happened, I was in town that week, and some wags thought it could have been me, NOT QUITE !!!!!! Flyinfool Posted August 17, 2011 Share #12 Posted August 17, 2011 On the local news this morning they reported that last night there was a bike on I94 doing 150+. After his arrest he said he was in a hurry because he was late for a date. I guess he missed that date altogether by the time he gets out of jail. Over the years I have found that going slower often gets me there fastest.
Black Owl Posted August 17, 2011 Share #13 Posted August 17, 2011 Oh to be young and invincible again. Coming back from Duluth yesterday evening. Raining so hard you could hardly see the fog line. Doing about 40 through the construcction when a young fella on a CR went past me doing at least 70. No helmet, no safety gear. Stll trying to figure out how he managed to sit on the bike with those basketballs.....

The incredibly thick and dense bone surrounding his tiny, little brain kept him plastered down to the seat...probably uncomfortably. Hmmm... now when did we stop doing that?
