I have a 2008 RSTD and want to add spotlights. I purchased as set that were original equipment to early 2000's Indian, which has the turn signal built into the bottom of the spotlight housing. They mount fine on the RSTD spotlight bar. Does anyone have a diagram of how these get wired into the right circuit? I have seen where RSTD owners have added a toggle switch for on / off. Where do folks mount that toggle switch? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. R.

Rich,

Just a question, are you going to have the lights on all the time? If so you may just want to omit having a switch on them and just wire it strait up to a relay. I have done this in the past as I always run with the spots on for being more visible to other vehicles. I would have a relay on them regardless if you had a switch or not. Wire it with it's own dedicated fuse directly from the battery for maximum brightness.

The original lights had a less than adequate switch on the side of the housing that nearly always failed over time.

Thanks. Yes, I am thinking that I will have them on all of the time for greater visibility i.e. others seeing me. Are there any extra locations in the fuse panel that I could use or are you proposing a fusible link? Also, where would I get the appropriate relay? Also, is there an easy way to disconnect the headlight from the ignition switch so I have the passing lights in all of the time and switch on the headlight as needed at night? Thanks. R.

This is where I put my light switch. used a dremil and cut a whole and ran wires to a relay I put in the headlight bucket that powers my lights. I got the switch from Napa, I wanted a lighted swithch.

If you plan to add more accessories later I would recommend on of these switch housings. Allows for the addition of switches with no drilling of any of the panels.

I have my light bar on one, amp for speakers on another and a light inside my trailer on the last one. Works well and the light from the switches aren't bright enough to blind you at night.
