Lassesand Posted August 14, 2011 #1 Posted August 14, 2011 This summer me and my two sons took a trip from Sweden, through Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. We visited cities/villages as Fussen (and saw the famous http://www.neuschwanstein.de/englisch/palace/index.htm , you can see where Disney got his inspiration drawing castles!), Riva de Garda (http://www.tripadvisor.ie/LocationPhotos-g194883-Riva_Del_Garda_Lake_Garda_Trentino_Alto_Adige.html) etc. We also rode over the Grossglockner pass (http://www.grossglockner.at/en/) and it was snowing up there! My VXZ 1200 (-84) functioned flawless except for a bit of trouble with the carging of the battery. I was lucky and found oxide on the connector from the generator. After removing the oxide it was back in business! In total 4100 km and great fun!
Gary N. Posted August 14, 2011 #3 Posted August 14, 2011 The pictures are awesome. Great you could do that with your boys.
Lassesand Posted August 14, 2011 Author #4 Posted August 14, 2011 I will post some of my own pictures at work tomorrow. My connection at home is too slow Yes, it was very nice to make this trip with my sons and I think they really enjoyed it too!
Lone Eagle Posted August 14, 2011 #5 Posted August 14, 2011 Now, that Grossglockner pass is something I would love to ride. Looking at that website, noticed this "pro-active" appeal to riders - very interesting. Biker advantages "Bikers Point“ on the Grossglockner as an exclusive meeting point and information point with reserved parking for motorcycles at the Edelweiss Peak at an altitude of 2,571 meters Special biker parking at the major attractions along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road Free "biker safes“ for helmets, jackets, etc. on the Grossglockner at Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe and at the Hochtor. "Bikers Nest“ at the Edelweiss Peak with special information for bikers on the history of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road Convenient ticket sale in the information office at the Ferleiten cash point (peak periods only) Supplementation of the information system with biker-friendly accommodations Reduced Tour4 ticket: includes a day ticket for the Grossglockner, Gerlos and Nockalm Roads in the same season and entitles the holder to purchase a reduced ticket for the Villach Alpine Road. Maximum grip material is used to resurface the pavement, especially to repair cracks in the curves Continuation of the guardrail replacement program to protect bikers against sharp-edged guardrails / crash barriers
Hummingbird Posted August 15, 2011 #6 Posted August 15, 2011 What an awesome trip - me and my wife will be in Italy and Croatia for 14 days but not on our bike. Don't think I could stand the excitement if we were taking the bike.
