dingy Posted September 6, 2011 #29 Posted September 6, 2011 Those came out very nice. Did you clear coat them? Gary
Guest Posted September 7, 2011 #30 Posted September 7, 2011 Those came out very nice. Did you clear coat them? Gary No, I used a good quality caranuba wax on them. A few polishing/buffing forums recommended it over clear coating, which will lessen the shine a bit. They also recommended against using polishes like Mothers which will actually promote oxidation. I did do a final polish with India ink and a chamois before hitting it with the caranuba wax. I cant really see where it would need any more maintenance over a chrome piece. My chrome Barons fork bullets are already corroding and thats with washing and polishing on a fairly regular basis. Im getting ready to sand off the chrome and polish those as well. Bubber, I know this is a winter project but since I cant ride it now anyway I may as well go ahead with my upgrades. If I retire this year or next im thinking of doing some polishing jobs on the side. I kinda like doing this.
