I finally got to ride the scooter today, actually took it around a few blocks Thursday to check it out.

Somewhat rushed getting it together so I could ride with my cousins and other friends to a bike show at a HD dealer near here.

Didn't know they were going to have a dyno setup, for free none the less. I really wasn't ready for a dyno run yet, but the price was right. I haven't synced carbs on bike, mixture screws are close & the TCI still needs dialed in, but I went for it, how embarrassing could it be in front of a 100 HD riders.

Was a slight problem hooking dyno up to bike. I don't have plug wires anymore so they couldn't hook tach sensor in. I went to Coil Over Plugs this winter.

Without the VBoost activated it hit 97 RWHP, that sucks, last year I had 96 RWHP. Activated the VBoost and it hit 108.96 RWHP. That's 11 more HP with pressing a button. I think with tuning and getting it dialed in 120RWHP is doable. I have located a guy that will bring me into his shop & work with me on setting jetting and fine tuning this thing on a dyno for a reasonable rate. I am close to that point.

Didn't get a print out of the dyno, they didn't have a printer set up. I got a mostly unreadable cell phone picture of screen, my cousin is going to email me his attempts at picture when he gets home. At least I didn't embarrass myself totally. My cousin said some of the HD guys were in disbelieve of the numbers.

Also, got caught in a hail storm while we where out. Dove for cover in a strip mall under a over hanging store front.

Cool. So have you transplanted a complete Vmax engine into your first gen or just swapped in heads, carbs, V boost etc?

Wouldn't mind doing something similar with the RSTD at some point.

Its sort of a VMax and an extra large fry on the side.

The VMax never had the 1300 motor in 1st gen's, always had a 1200 with better doming on the pistons for a little better compression along with the better carbs, Vboost, air cleaner, rear gearing, smaller dia rear wheel, heads & cams.

Also they have more exhaust header options than a Venture. Due to the VMax twin rear shock vs. the Venture mono shock, there are few workable VMax headers that will fit a Venture. At this point that is were I am lacking, I still have a fairly stock exhaust, except the mufflers have been considerable opened up by removing 3 of the baffle/restrictions.

Other than that I have 100 more CC's due to using a MKII 1300 block & tranny, have raised the compression from rated 10.5:1 to a tad over 12:1 by milling .040" from block at head mating surface. Identical carbs, set of stock VMax heads & cams, FJR rear end which is same gearing as a VMax, 15" VMax rear wheel. Vboost system & VMax air cleaner.

I also have a far better TCI than any stock VMax with the Ignitech unit and that's where I think is the key to opening this thing up. I am trying to get some VMax guys involved with this modern TCI because I think they will help.

I have had some really quick bikes over the years, just got to where I liked the comfort of a Venture for 98% of my riding. I will accelerate this this briskly a lot, but I really don't often give it everything its got. I have had 2 Ventures and last one before that was an XS1100 Yamaha, which is a rather quick scooter. I just like having the power there. Its a hobby sort of, hopefully not an obsession. The bike is really not that radically different from a normal 1st gen in handling other than the exhaust is louder & the throttle is way more responsive, if I don't twist it to far it's a 1st gen.
