Marcarl Posted August 3, 2011 #1 Posted August 3, 2011 Three years ago, my daughter, Heather and her husband Adam accepted a position in Brechin (Orillia) ON as associate pastor for a very small church. They could not afford to buy a house so they looked for something to rent. They could not find that either, but one of the church members had just built a 3 car garage with a one room apartment above it. Now with 2 kids it was getting a little tight so the search continued. In November last year, they found a house,, not much, kind of old but serviceable. It needed a new roof, so the owner was replacing it when it rained, and ruined the whole inside, so that was all redone. They were told they could move in in March, and then the end of March, then April,, you got the story. Now all is done and they were packed and ready to move in this past weekend, when all of a sudden things took a turn around, and now the owner has decided not to rent, but to sell. Heather is going bald I think,,, she must be totally pulling her hair out. We're going there to see what can be done, there just seems to be no place to rent so we may have to become creative. So we need some guidance, maybe from you folks, but most of all from our Creator, so if you could ask Him that would be awesome. Carl
Condor Posted August 3, 2011 #2 Posted August 3, 2011 Can't the church members come up with something? Or at least help?? Most churchs are aware of the pastor housing problem and have taken steps to take care of it, and if they couldn't they had no business hiring more staff. Another thought is a mobile home park?? Or perhaps a member has enough acreage to put a mobile home on it. The church members need to step up and address the problem.

Carl Also as pastor maybe a review for the congregation of: Nehemiah: Learning that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down he asked the king for permission to return and rebuild them .... Even a small congregation can get things done! All it takes is one "Nehemiah"
BradT Posted August 4, 2011 #5 Posted August 4, 2011 All the best to the family. Municipalities do not Normally like you to add a trailer on property to live in. Maybe someone has a decent barn/shed that with the support of the church members can add and fixed into a nice little home. Good luck on being a little creative. do I see a Carl speech coming on... Brad
saddlebum Posted August 4, 2011 #7 Posted August 4, 2011 Prayers sent Carl I hope they fare well and come up with something soon.

Grandpagak Posted August 4, 2011 #9 Posted August 4, 2011 your daughters family is in our prayers.[/color]]
Trader Posted August 4, 2011 #10 Posted August 4, 2011 Perhaps the owner of the renovated house would be willing to do a "rent to own"
BradT Posted August 13, 2011 #11 Posted August 13, 2011 Hope all is going well. Have not heard how things are lately. Brad
Marcarl Posted August 16, 2011 Author #12 Posted August 16, 2011 Now the latest: We went to spend a day or two at Heather's. looked at a rental and decided to look in a different direction. The next day we looked at 8 for-sales and now they have an accepted offer on a four-seasons cottage. Closing S\B on the 28th or so, so then we get to go there to make things nice. Looks like the whole family is going to join in for the long weekend and do the needed work. It's sure nice to have you folks around doing the important work for us, like asking for guidance and direction. So far, it's all working out JUST PERFECT!!!! They should be moving in on the 5th or 6th.
Yammer Dan Posted August 16, 2011 #14 Posted August 16, 2011 Great News. Will make everyone rest easier!! In a new house!!
