EBC HH brake pads.

Bubber,

I wouldn't recommend getting the HH's for the rear of the RSV. The back brake caliper locks up way too easy and the HH will add to that as it is very aggressive. Put the HH's on the front and a strait organic on the rear, you'll be a lot happier not locking up the rear caliper :2cents:

Well you must have read my mind. :whistling:

I replaced the rears in the Spring with organics and when I was at Cody my wife could hear the front making noise.

I looked and others looked too, and said that there was plenty on the front but I was going to look by taking the frt wheel off and make a determination if I should replace the fronts at this time. Only got 19.5K on them so I would think they are still good... we'll see.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not to create any havoc here but I have been running the EBC HH pads front and rear for a number of years now. Never had the rear wheel lock up on me unless it was an extreme panic stop and it also locked up with the stock pads too. Plus my rear caliper has been rebuilt and im using a stainless steel braided brake line. But then, it just may take an awful of of brake power just to haul my fat butt down to a stop.

Are EBC's semi metallic? I also saw SEmi metallics online at a lesser price. IT is time for me to replace my rear pads. I need your best recommendation.

EBC makes both.

I prefer the non metallic on non-ABS brakes. A bike that goes down because a wheel locked up is worse than taking a few extra feet to stop. A matter of preference, as I said. Most people here seem to prefer the HH metallic, however.

Had anyone else experienced a hissing noise with the EBC HH brake pads? I just put mine on a couple weeks ago and they hiss when applying the rear brake?

Yes the noise is part of the sintered brake pads from my experience, even more noticeable when on the front. The rear locks up regardless of the type of pad you have, I run the HH pads because they last a lot longer on the rear. It's kind of like oil and tires everyone has one they like/think is better. My :2cents:

Yup, I have the HH pads on the rear of my RSV and it's nice not having to change them out with every tire change. I can make it 2 tire changes now on a set of rear pads.

They are a little noisier, but they're also semi metallic on a steel disc. metal on metal.
