A couple of my shipmates and I are trying to put together a reunion for our first ship which we commissioned and I was wondering if amongst the vast knowledge on this site anyone may have some advice.

We have have a Facebook page and a website so we have at least started.

I would post some thing on the PGR site if you can. There are many retired military people there and several here to. Thank you for your service to our free country.

Here is the shirt. No crest on it, like I thought. Tried to PM them to you, but we can't add images to PMs now I guess.

EDIT: I see I'm gonna have to find some bigger ones...lol.

I'm doing the same thing with one of my ships. I started a facebook group page and have found over 55 shipmates so far. we are going to keep it simple, I hope. just setting up a place to meet for dinner then play it by ear. we are doing ours at our home port in VA Beach.

I hope we did not bite off more than we can by having it at Disney, the simple route actually sounds better. We have a couple hundred folks on the FB group now. I also did up a website for those that don't do FB.

What ship are you doing the reunion for we are doing ours for the WASP?

I don't think think I can help with the planning/arranging but you might get some info from this website. I'm a member of the alumni association and I did two tours in Londonderry (met the wife there). You might also email and ask for information from the members on the website also. We hold a mini-reunion every 2nd year and a full reunion in Londonderry on the alternate years.

Just a shot in the dark here...

For the last 10-15 years I have been looking for 2 things that are in reference to my time in the Navy.

First and foremost, I have been trying (without success) for 15 years to find my Navy Recruit Yearbook from my time in Boot Camp at Great Lakes, IL back in the early 1970's. It was called "The Keel". I have had no success in locating this book, although I have found (and purchased) yearbooks in and around this time I was in Boot Camp (June 1973-August 1973). I cannot remember anyone's complete names from that time other than just a couple. One is deceased and the other is the other names are so common that I would not know where to begin.

Which brings me to my other search. I am wondering if some of you "Old Salts" know of ANY resource where I can find a ROSTER of my shipmates during my time in Boot Camp (this would assist in my search for the yearbook).

I have to think that there is an archive or something that shows ROSTER'S for specific Boot Camp companies.

Again...don't expect an answer here...just a shot in the dark and I am sorry for hijacking the thread.
