myminpins Posted August 29, 2011 #26 Posted August 29, 2011 Interesting. Mike drives a Freightliner, too, 2010 model, I believe. The A/C has never worked well and still doesn't. The plain Jane Volvos most of the others drive, the A/C is perfect. @Jayceesfolly: Wow, they put all that in the trucks for you? Awesome!!!
Jayceesfolly Posted August 29, 2011 #27 Posted August 29, 2011 Brenda: I put the microwave and TV in myself. I have never used the TV, so took it out after 6 months. and use the microwave to warm meals when on the road. I just work part time now - 2 days a week, so I don't spend much time in the truck anymore. I prefer a Volvo because they are quieter than most other trucks and , I think, ride better. The company switched to Intl (Prostars) and the drivers didn't like them, so they switched back to Volvo. The IH were shorter wheelbase and the sleepers were smaller and less HP. The company had two brand new 2011 IH's that sat for three months in the parking lot, because no one wanted to drive them. Because of anti idling laws, the company is fitting all the trucks with APUs or all electric units. My truck has all electric units for heat and A/C and electricity. It allows me to sleep without the truck running and is very quiet. The system is recharged while you drive, from the main alternator on the truck.
