Semi-retired Posted July 26, 2011 #1 Posted July 26, 2011 I'm just trying to insert a photo into the bottom of my message.......so it appears as the picture it is......i.e. not a link or an attachment. (oh, and not part of my signature, as I already have!) What is the simplest/fastest way, without having to subscribe to any new third party service. Thanks, guys. Mike
gibvel Posted July 26, 2011 #2 Posted July 26, 2011 Should just be able to scroll down while you're replying or typing the message. Below the text window there is a button that says "Manage Attachments". Click that, a new window will pop up, then you can either upload a file from your computer or from a URL.
Venturous Randy Posted July 26, 2011 #3 Posted July 26, 2011 He does not want to do it as an attachment. There was a post recently about doing the full picture that is not an attachment, but is part of the post. RandyA
BuddyRich Posted July 26, 2011 #4 Posted July 26, 2011 The only way I have found is to click on the icon that looks like a stamp (mountain and sun) and post the link to an existing pic on the web. Like this. While on the web find the pic and right click on it then select "Copy image location" . I'm using firefox. Paste that into the box. http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQA2U7UVRO3MzmlIP_T9_LzGcm-JjSBcl6mU4g5dhNOVozhkW3a
gibvel Posted July 26, 2011 #5 Posted July 26, 2011 Oooooops, my mistake, sorry! I'm not sure there's a way other than linking to the picture from another site (hot link). If you can copy the link location (right click "copy link location") then come back and click the "insert image button" at the top of the text screen (the little yellow button with the mountains on it). Then paste the copied link into the pop up box and hit "Ok". Some sites don't like people "Hot Linking" though.
Semi-retired Posted July 26, 2011 Author #6 Posted July 26, 2011 Anybody know how SMALL the pics have to be before they'll "upload from computer"? Trying a tiny one here to see a)if it works........b) how it looks. mike (THAT's kinda tiny..........let's try that again!)

Trying a tiny one here to see a)if it works........b) how it looks. That's a little better... Guess I'll have to keep playing......or wait till someone directs me to the "rule book".
Semi-retired Posted July 26, 2011 Author #8 Posted July 26, 2011 One last try.......at 400KB I promise to stop messing around now! Mike
Flyinfool Posted July 26, 2011 #9 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) Could you upload the pic to your profile here and then link to it in your post to have a big pic in the post? At least this way you do not havve to sign up for some photo hosting site. I am not sure what doing this will do to Freebirds storage system and/or bandwidth. But then from the other hand, in most cases, I prefer when people use the manage attachments for adding pics. I am usually on a fairly slow connection and every time I open a thread with big pics in the thread, I have to sit for a while to wait for all of the big pics to load even if the pics belong to early posts that I no longer need to see. If you used the manage attachments I only have to wait for the thumbnails to load. The one place where big pics in the thread is good is in a step by step how to where you can then have a pic, some describing text, then the next step with pic and text, etc. Edited July 26, 2011 by Flyinfool
Flyinfool Posted July 26, 2011 #10 Posted July 26, 2011 PS If you want to mess around there is a testing area just for that. Go to the forum tab upper left of the tool bar and then scroll to the bottom of the page and the third forum up from the bottom is Testing Area. You can play to your hearts content there, that is what it is for.

Freebird Posted July 26, 2011 #12 Posted July 26, 2011 You can upload images up to 640 x 480 so long as they are under 300,000 bytes.

Evan Posted July 27, 2011 #16 Posted July 27, 2011 You can upload images up to 640 x 480 so long as they are under 300,000 bytes. I find that I have to "downsize" my pictures before they meet this max size criteria. Wizard765 just sent me some software that can be downloaded from Microsoft (I think). Apparently, this give me the option to right click on any of my pictures and specify my downsizing choices. I haven't tried it yet.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 27, 2011 #17 Posted July 27, 2011 You can upload a pic to your profile or gallery, then right-click 'copy image address' then use the 'insert image' command to live-link internally (within this website).
