Keys

I traded my 03 for a new 09, and got 5 keys after I got home 1 key worked the ignition and trunk and 1 set works with one set of bags the other set work with the other bag. So I called the dealer and talked to salesman he said to stop in and talk to him and he will get me a nother key for ignition, stoped in and salesman is with someone so I walked over to parts dept. They said they can't help only the salesman can get me a key, or charge me $10 for a key. So after 1/2 hour salesman makes a key. I know they would never do this at a Harley dealer.

My 03 had the same key for everthing, do most of you you have the same key for ignition and bags?

The CD player was optional through at least 2008, but I am not sure if the 09 model had the CD player as standard equipment, but I know the CD was added to the 10 model. Now the 11 has an Ipod setup.

I would be raising some He$$ with this group if they sold you a brand new bike where the ignition key did not open all bags, trunk, gas cap.

I would absolutely not accept that on a new bike. There are two possibilities. The bike was damaged and repaired. If that is the case, they are required by law to disclose the damage.

The other possibility is that they stole parts off it to repair another bike and then put new parts on the one that you bought.

Either way, you did NOT get a NEW bike as it came from the factory and I would be furious and doing whatever legally possible to get the issue resolved.

I have to use two keys on my RSTD because the ignition was replaced under warranty.

I like the dealer and didn't fight to have it re-keyed.

So, obviously the ignition was swapped, if not more. One key should fit all locks and the ignition. (On RSV: ignition, gas cap, 3 bags, 2 helmet locks)

If I just had to, I could deal with the ignition being keyed different than the trunk and bags. In that case, you can still get by with one key. The keys are double sided. All you need to do is get a new blank and have one side cut for the ignition and the other side cut for the luggage and gas cap. Then just mark it so that you know which side is for the ignition.

He is saying that he needs THREE keys though. That is absolutely unacceptable. Either the bike was damaged or there were a combination of parts taken off it and then replaced.

Either way, it's just not right and I wouldn't accept it on a new bike.

Is this a Brand new bike or is it a new to you bike? If brand new you need to contact the district rep or the manufacturer. Also in most states they do not have to disclose damage even on a new bike unless it is over a certian percentaqe of the price of the bike. Illinois is 13%. But what puzzles me is the fact that no maqtter what the deal is why does eveything have a differengt key. If they robbed parts then when they reordered all they had to do was reorder the correct locks. I also believe the very early models of the 09 did not have the cd player standard. If yours did then they sold it off the bike to someone. Don't wait go back and demand it be set right or tell them you want another $1200-$1500 back so you can make it right.

I have just one key on my 2000 for everything

PS what dealer is it

Every 09 I looked at had a CD player, it was in the left saddle bag look and see if there was a hole drill in the bag for a wire..

Every bike I looked was leftside top leftside corner..

Also I like sleeperhawk said 2 keys with codes stamp on them..

That was what I recieved when I took deliverly

Thee 99 I know are like that two different keys. I also now that at least from 07 and newer there is one key for everything.

I agree with everyone else that is not a NEW from factory bike. 09 CD was standard and one key should do everything. I would be raising A LOT of questions.

Whats this one key fits all stuff? both my "99"s use two keys, one ignition, one for the gas and bags.:puzzled:

My '09 came with a CD player. The '09 is long gone but the new, in box CD player is on the shelf in my shop. Just think, in a few years it will be an oddity and the Pawn guys will stop by and give my wife 500 bucks for it.

Hi,

I think it goes for everyone that dealers that pull this sXXt ought to be gone.

I had a dealer in Green Bay Wisconsin pull similar skullduggery on me , TEAM, is their namo. I bought a bike, an 07 in 09 as new with zero miles. I bought the extra four years warranty, later on the warranty people sent me a paper saying the warranty started in March of 09, when I bought the bike July 3,09. Here again, this bike was supposedly bought out from a bankrupt dealer and Zuki required them to start the warranty in March contingent on getting these low cost blowout bikes. If I would have been told all this , pre purchase, I would have accepted it, but no, they had to let this go and hope that I wouldnt notice or would simply accept their bs as being ok.

After catching people lying at the dealership and hearing every possible excuse, and using the Michigan AG as a reference a couple of times, they extended my warranty another year at their expense. They do sell Yammies, even though I bought a Boulevard. We really would like to know this dealers name, even though, I am sure he isnt in my area, others may be saved a big hassle, perhaps even with this dealer by telling him they are onto him from this sorry episode.
