Guest Popeye Posted December 10, 2007 #1 Posted December 10, 2007 I sold my 86VR on eBay yesterday for Buy Now price. The strange thing is, the man who bought it lives in Hamburg, Germany & is having it crated/shipped to germany via land or sea. I had a post about a fellow in MN, who wanted "Proof of Possession", but this guy said we are both members with 100% feedback over many years & that was good enough. He called, from Germany, & asked a bunch of good questions, then bought it. I had $500.00 deposit within the hour. He bought it 6 hours before end of auction. The scoot is in good shape, looks decent, & fair price.....but sold & shipped to the-other-side-of-the-planet? WOW! I NEVER , NEVER would have expected this one.
mini-muffin Posted December 10, 2007 #2 Posted December 10, 2007 Congrats glad it worked out. I wasn't too sure about that other guy. Put a card or something in the bike so he can join the site. Plus we got a member or two in Germany. I know that's a lot off your mind. The other guy was just to flaky wanting proof of your possession and not wanting to pay for it all and have you keep it. This is a better deal. Margaret
BOO Posted December 10, 2007 #3 Posted December 10, 2007 Guess it just depends on how bad you want a Venture. How does the commerical go? "How bad you got it?" Jerry
SilvrT Posted December 10, 2007 #4 Posted December 10, 2007 well, you'll never have to worry about him bringing it back if something goes wrong! ... but that never was a concern anyway.... it's a 1st gen! How does he go about crating and shipping it?
FreezyRider Posted December 10, 2007 #5 Posted December 10, 2007 The US Dollar has lost a lot of value compared to the Euro over the last few months. So, it was probably still a good deal for the buyer even with the cost of shipping. Joe
mini-muffin Posted December 10, 2007 #6 Posted December 10, 2007 How does he go about crating and shipping it? There's companies that crate and ship. I had a friend who use to buy cars here and ship them over to England. Margaret
cowpuc Posted December 11, 2007 #7 Posted December 11, 2007 12 years ago I was shipping KZs, H1s and H2s back to Japan in shipping containers on a regular basis.. I had a buyer who was Japanese who said those bikes were not allowed in their country for many years... Sounds crazy but true...
86er Posted December 11, 2007 #8 Posted December 11, 2007 Are you sure you didn't just sell it to Squeeze!??! Seriously, you ought to hook this new guy up with Squeeze.
Guest Popeye Posted December 11, 2007 #9 Posted December 11, 2007 well, you'll never have to worry about him bringing it back if something goes wrong! ... but that never was a concern anyway.... it's a 1st gen! How does he go about crating and shipping it? The man is retired & when he saw this scoot, he said it was his "DREAM BIKE". Also, he is a Yamaha tech and retired from the Navy over there, so he has the knowledge to put the SHIP in SHIPping. He's paying the balance through a wire transfer to my checking account, which i just set-up today for this very purpose. I've heard too many bad things about PayPal. The shipping I got on one inquiry was $995. door-to-port, from NJ port. Talk about someone who knows what they want. Even with huge shipping, I think he got a fair-enough deal.
