This is a continuation of the thread below. I was supposed to have surgery on my back close to two months ago. I got a blood clot in my lower left leg a few days before the surgery and it had to be canceled.

This time, due to the clot and my having been on blood thinners for two months, it's more complicated. I checked in tonight (wed) about 5:30. Tomorrow sometime I am scheduled to have a filter inserted in a vein leading to my heart. They are supposed to go in either femoral artery at my groin, or in my neck. This is supposed to catch any clot that may break loose before it gets to heart or lungs. Then, I have to stay in hospital over the weekend. Monday, my Dr. is going to do surgery on my lower back and remove the extruded disc that is pressing on my spinal cord. I should be able to go home Monday afternoon if that surgery goes well.

I will be so happy to get rid of this pain. For a couple of weeks I was taking 8 percocets a day in order to tolerate the pain.

I haven't rode the scooter once this year yet and I am missing it.

:crying:

I have my laptop with me and hooked into hospitals wireless system. Got all my bike files with me. Its amazing how much Venture related stuff I have, 18 gig worth.

I am sure I will be on here over the weekend, If you don't here from me after Monday, there will be a bunch of Venture parts for sale, wife has said if I go, garage is getting cleaned out. She has no idea how much I have spent on this, so it will be a bargain if I don't pull through.

Gary,

Good luck with the surgery. Hope all works out with your back.

My wife had simular surgery in April, and doc did not get enough first time and had to do it again 5 days later.

She had 6 weeks rehab, but now nearly 100%.

Don't worry about riding, its too HOT anyway.:scorched:

Good luck with the surgery. We know you'll do just fine.

Good luck and God's speed on the recovery.

Warden keeps making the same threat... 1st Gen Yard Sale!! If I bought me a 2nd Gen it might be safe??Or a BLUE Trike.....:whistling:

Filter is a piece of cake Gary and gives you a little peace of mind. My leg is still full of clots. Filter doing its job. Hope you get rid of the back pain. My son is going thru the same thing but doc says he won't operate?? Boy (40 yrs old but I can call him that) really hurts at times and can hardly walk. How do you convince doc it needs to be done??

Best of luck dude.....years ago I had a girlfriend who had some similar issues, but in her arms. It was a bad disc in her neck vertebra. They went in and fixed it and 9 years later shes still doing well...no more neck or arm pain.

Gary, prayers sent that all goes well. Hope your up and around real soon.

Hmmmm, maybe the doc can tighten up some of your vertebra with this speciality tool shown below. I think some surgical specialist developed it not so long ago....:whistling:

Dinjy/Gary,

I don't know you & we haven't met yet, but I've been there where you are & want to give you some support. Things will get better!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I've been in the hospital for the 2nd & 3rd times in my life in the last 6 months. 1st time was when I was born in 1946, 2nd last Nov when I had a massive heart attack, 3rd was two weeks ago for a lower end look. Fortunately all has turned out well.

Keep a good outlook & stay in touch with us Venture guys. we will help you through this so you can get back out here & ride with us.

Keep us posted on the procedures & how you're doing

Best of luck Dingy!

Ya, the back surgery is the easy part! I'm back to work in 5 weeks, and was moving fairly well almost right away!

Hopefully all the vascular stuff works out OK.

Get well soon, Scooter Bob
