lobo17 Posted July 14, 2011 #1 Posted July 14, 2011 I finally got my rear suspension shock installed at the dealer. I asked the mechanic how much air was in the shock and he told me none. Is this correct because I had read that the air should be ajusted for a single or passenger rider depending on the weight of the individual. Thanks, lobo17
Little Bob Posted July 14, 2011 #2 Posted July 14, 2011 They come with zero in them. Troy donahue at Donahue super sports says to run around 10-20 single a little more if 2 up
M61A1MECH Posted July 14, 2011 #3 Posted July 14, 2011 Yes, as odd as it sounds 0 psi is what the factory recommends for both the rear shock and the front forks. I run about 30 psi in the rear and 7 psi in the front forks.
Galapagos Posted July 14, 2011 #4 Posted July 14, 2011 Does that also apply to a RSTD? I run 35 in the rear and 3.5 at the forks.
V7Goose Posted July 14, 2011 #5 Posted July 14, 2011 Although Yamaha does say that 0 lbs in the rear shock is OK, I would NEVER run that. There are lots of different ideas about what pressure is good, and most of it depends on the weight of the load. Without going into all that, I'd suggest 30 lbs air as a good average starting point. I have found sole riding requires a minimum of 20 lbs, and two-up 35. You will be happier with too much air over too little, but you just need to do some testing to see what is right for you. Goose
