Google the truck and year. You'll get all kinds of responses. but understand, most (all) will be complaining, not touting its greatness.

Thanks Erns... I'd done that already and got a lot of info.

Here is the '72 Chevy that I wish I had never sold and the '69 Ford that was a darn good truck.

That '72 Chev is gorgeous....I've always wanted one of those and also a 64 Chev p/u and that reminds me...I forgot about one truck I had and it was the coolest "sleeper" there ever was.... it was a plain jane '61 Chev p/u, long box...light green (faded). But it had a '64 Olds 394 (I think) engine and hydra-matic 4 speed auto (I think that's what it was). Dang could that thing FLY! and talk about smoke the rubber or what!!

And as I think about it... my memory is comin back even more coz I remember having a 63 or 63 Ford...one of them integrated cab/box shorty's and when I had my body shop, I had a 66 Merc with a 352 in it that I fixed all up and sold, not to mention the 55 Ford that I bought after a guy rolled it and then I rebuilt it and sold it.

I forget about some of these vehicles coz I've had so danged many over the years and those three I never really drove...just fixed up and sold. I should post some pics of the 66 Merc... it went from a beat up farm truck to a cool custom and also the 55 Ford.

THE FUEL REGULATORS GO BAD ON THESE TRUCKS OTHER THAN THAT BULLET PROOF. INSTALL A PRESSURE GAGE ON FUEL LINE AND KEEP A CHECK ON IT WHEN IT GOES BAD THE PRESSURE GOES THUR THE ROOF AND MAKES ITS WAY TO THE OIL. THESE TRUCKS HAVE PLASTIC TIMMING GEARS AND THE GAS WILL MELT THE GEARS.:080402gudl_prv:

Since you aren't sold on the ford and are looking at other trucks you may want to check the latest recalls. Don't want to get stuck with a truck that's got problems. Good luck on the search.

Thanks Margaret ..... most of what I am looking at is around 1992-1995 and to be honest, I'm really hoping to find a really nice Dakota extended cab with the V8 in it. Even a high miler as long as it's been looked after and most major compnents that would fail have been done already...if the price is right, I'd go for it.

The lookin is over...I found a really nice 1990 Dakota "Sport" ... a real "cream puff" coz it's been in the original family since new. First the father owned it, then he sold it to his daughter and her hubby. It was a local commuter for the daughter. Only 130,000 Kms which is nothin for a 17 yr old truck. Here's the guy's ad...

Now, I spent a lot more than I wanted to but frankly, there was absolutely nothing out there even close for the same kinda bucks and anything that was less money was junk also. I figgure I got a decent deal on this baby.

Thanks for all the input ya'll
