rstacy Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Some of the buttons on my radio were getting little flaky. Also I was having trouble manually tuning the radio. I did some searching here and found that the buttons were pretty easy to get to. I ordered a bunch of buttons on line. They were only a few cents a piece. Taking the radio apart was a breeze and soldering in the new buttons was just as easy. Replacing all of the buttons took less than an hour. The problem was that the manual tuning and memory buttons still didn't work. I found that by tapping the handlebar mounted module, the manual tuning buttons on the radio would work. The radio scan button was gunked and worn out. I took the module apart and replaced the scan button as well as the CB tuning buttons. Nothing to it and now everything works like new!

rstacy Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 www.mouser.com Mouser p/n 688-SKHHAM You better hurry though. They only have 25,623 left in stock. $0.22 a piece. $0.20 a piece if you buy 50. I just got back from Radio Shack where I bought the parts to remove the cassette deck and install a compartment for my ipod.
CrazyHorse Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Dam i need 25,624 of them. 1 short. Cool good ole mouser use them for tube amp parts never thought of them for these. How are u getting rid of the cassette. Id like to see how your plan. Im going to rip out the amp and build a new upgraded chip amp one also. Im looking into making the radio/cb transmit bluetooth to my helmet.
rstacy Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 You sound like me. A day late and always one short! LOL For now I am taking the simple path. I removed the cassette deck and installed a Radio Shack plastic project case from the bottom side of the dash. This gives me a nice recessed storage space for the ipod. I will fabricate a lid out of Plexiglas to keep everything safe and dry. I will run the ipod signal in to the line that used to be for the cassette player and add a switch to enable either the ipod or radio. For now I made an adapter that plugs in to the intercom system so that my rider and I can hear the audio in our ear buds. I haven't done anything for the microphone yet as I don't need it right now but it is on the list of things to do. My long term solution would be something like yours where the signal is transmitted to my blue tooth devices. I know that they exist today but I would prefer to not pay $400-$500 dollars for the system. Ray
