orbie Posted July 8, 2011 #1 Posted July 8, 2011 Can anyone tell me which wire is the hot that goes to the brake light? I can't find a good wireing diagram. I recently bought a flasher for the brake light. Thanks.
MidnightSpook Posted July 8, 2011 #2 Posted July 8, 2011 From looking at the print, it appears that the "Y" wire (upper right) is from the break switch and "L" wire (center) is the running hot. Then "B" wire (bottom) is the ground. I hope I'm reading it correctly as it appears that the right and left rear blinkers are in the same connector.
orbie Posted July 8, 2011 Author #3 Posted July 8, 2011 I would like to splice this wire under the seat. That's where I want to install the module.
awsmsrv Posted July 8, 2011 #4 Posted July 8, 2011 If you're wanting to know the wire colors, blue is the tail/running light & yellow is the brake light. Hope that helps.
Condor Posted July 8, 2011 #5 Posted July 8, 2011 RSV & RSTD wiring: Blue = tail/running lights Yellow = Brake lights Brown = Left turn signal Green = Right turn signal Black = Ground connection
orbie Posted July 10, 2011 Author #6 Posted July 10, 2011 Thanks to everyone for your help. The installation took less then 15 minutes. Now when I apply the brakes the light gives 5 quick flashes and then holds steady until I release the brakes. Thanks again.
gibvel Posted July 10, 2011 #7 Posted July 10, 2011 What brake light flasher did you get and from where?
KeithR Posted July 10, 2011 #8 Posted July 10, 2011 I know there are lots of different ones out there. I'm about to order one from these guys. 10 flash's when brake applied. Keith http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=31
orbie Posted July 10, 2011 Author #9 Posted July 10, 2011 I bought the "BackOFF-XP" brake light signal module by Signal Dynamics.com. It works with either incandescent light bulbs or LED's. Currently I have the incandescent bulbs, but I will be switching over to the LED's soon. Very easy to install. It's a nice small neat module that mounts with the supplied double sticky tape. I mounted it behind the battery. Check with JP Cycle. I think I paid $32.00 plus shipping. Thanks again.
emtdouggood Posted July 10, 2011 #10 Posted July 10, 2011 Will you get a warning light with the LED light. Being this does not draw enough amps? Just asking because I will look into one of the flashers.
orbie Posted July 11, 2011 Author #11 Posted July 11, 2011 I don't know anything about a warning light. All I know is that this product if advertised to work with LED's or Incandesant bulbs.
