Primebeef Posted July 9, 2011 #26 Posted July 9, 2011 I have the RSTD bars, without end weights for sale. $60.00 plus shipping.
Mike G in SC Posted July 9, 2011 #27 Posted July 9, 2011 Now you got me interested on putting some RSTD bars on my RSV. What's the benefit? Jim, you said like power steering? And,, other than weight issues, what's involved in putting them on. Any cable or hardware changes needed,, or is it just a swap out?? Is there already a thread on "how to", didn't see one? (I have a RSTD and RSV and put Kuryakyn ISO's on both. Yeah, the RSV stock weights are one piece and actually threaded like a big bolt and the RSTD has a center hole with a bolt through it. On the RSTD, we modified the weight, on the RSV I bought the Baron's end weights.) As I remember, the RSTD handlebars probably need weights to dampen the vibration. I did without a few days on my RSTD and it was much better when I put them back on. Anyhow, if you know what's needed for install, let me know. Thanks, Mike G in SC
lshafer Posted July 9, 2011 #28 Posted July 9, 2011 If anyone is interested and would give me a couple of weeks I just may have RSTD bars, stock grips and end wights that I'd be willing to part with. I just ordered Flanders bars, Kuryakyn ISO grips and Kury/Barons Bullet End Weights for my 06 RSTD Midnight. Provided I have no big issues with vibration from the aftermarket end weights there would be no reason for me to hang on to the stock ones. I would put them back on but I'm not a skilled fabricator. Anyway, just a thought. I may be interested in trade as well if anyone has any safety chrome or usefull goodies to part with. PM me with thoughts. **Note - I'm doing the install of the new equipment myself so I'm estimating on the 'couple of weeks'.**
Solodadof2 Posted July 9, 2011 #29 Posted July 9, 2011 So this is somewhat funny the RSTD Folks are buying FLanders Bars, The RSV folks like the RSTD Bars, and the Vstar 1100 Classic folks like the RSV Bars. Maybe someone should call ma yamaha!

Thanks, Mike G in SC Hey Mike, nice to hear from you again. I love the rise and pull back on the RSTD bars. Took all the stress out of my shoulders and I ride more relaxed in my arms. They are not without some problems when mounting. I could not get the throttle cables to relax enough to fit the wider bars. I ended up having ss cables made 2" longer on throttle, brake and clutch. I only needed the throttle but went ahead and did it all. Some say they can re-route the throttle to work. The other (minor) issue is, your hands are out of the slip stream of the fairing. This means bugs will hit your nuckles and sting. I wear mesh gloves and have no problem. In the winter they will get cold but I use Gerbing gloves. Your grips are wider and this gives you much more control over turning these beasts. Let me know if you want more info. PM me!

Bubber Posted July 10, 2011 Author #33 Posted July 10, 2011 If I every get any I'll post the results here. Still waiting to find some at a reasonable price. Steve
lshafer Posted July 10, 2011 #34 Posted July 10, 2011 I'm not really sure what the proper protocol is on something like this but I'd like to apologize. I wasn't thinking yesterday when I posted to EVERYONE that I would have bars from my RSTD available instead of just PM'ing Bubber. He started the thread and I should have brought it to him first. It's not like me to be such an idiot with these types of things so I just wanted to let everyone know I didn't mean to be so dumb. Elmicko PM'ed me shortly after I posted and at this point has first dibbs but Bubber is on deck. I really do feel terrible but I need to be fair to elmicko now. Please don't hold my momentary loss of mental ability against me...

If he don't want them for any reason, then let me know. It's all good.
Bubber Posted July 10, 2011 Author #36 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) Thanks elmicko I had just responded to a PM from Ishafer and appreciate that you let me have first shot at the bars. I didn't look at the thread first. This is a great bunch of guys here and this just proves it. Bubber Edited July 10, 2011 by Bubber spelling what else
lshafer Posted July 10, 2011 #37 Posted July 10, 2011 OK. There it is. Elmicko, thanks for the offer to play second string and I'm sorry for any confusion I caused. Bubber - I'll let you know when I get the old bars off and the new ones on. Will you be interested in the stock grips and end weights too?
Bubber Posted July 11, 2011 Author #38 Posted July 11, 2011 Bars with the weights is what I would be interested in. The venture grips I believe are the same ad TD Shoot me a PM with a price so I am not holding anybody up. If we can agree on price great if not them we can let elmicko have a shot at it. How does that sound? I wouldn't need them until after you get your installed and are happy with them. Bubber
