winger53215 Posted July 7, 2011 #1 Posted July 7, 2011 I am about to get a zumo model gps. My question is could I wire the given chord to my battery tender chord using the proper adapter? I was thinking of doing this to avoid making extra connections to the battery.
Bubber Posted July 7, 2011 #2 Posted July 7, 2011 Why not plug it into the power outlet on the lower left portion of the inner fairing?
exrsa1 Posted July 7, 2011 #3 Posted July 7, 2011 I am about to get a zumo model gps. My question is could I wire the given chord to my battery tender chord using the proper adapter? I was thinking of doing this to avoid making extra connections to the battery. I can't see why this would be a problem. The Zumo comes with an inline fuse, so all good there. Why not plug it into the power outlet on the lower left portion of the inner fairing? The Zumo comes with a motorcycle connector that has to be hardwired in. You could add a plug at the end and plug it in, but it really is a nice and clean setup with it all wired in. Brian
etcswjoe Posted July 7, 2011 #4 Posted July 7, 2011 If you do plug anything into the fairing plug make sure it does not hit your tank when you turn.
Richie R Posted August 2, 2011 #5 Posted August 2, 2011 Not to sound dumb but where is the power supply inside the fairing? Richie R
exrsa1 Posted August 2, 2011 #6 Posted August 2, 2011 There is a 12V outlet on the left side of the fairing (sitting on the bike), down at knee, tank height, kinda under the speaker. Look around in there, and you will see it.
Richie R Posted August 2, 2011 #7 Posted August 2, 2011 Do you mean the power outlet by my driving lite switch? I thought he meant one inside the fairing to hardwire my gps in. Richie R
exrsa1 Posted August 2, 2011 #8 Posted August 2, 2011 Ah yes, you mean a 12V source inside fairing. On my Zumo I ran the wires to the headlight HOT, so it comes on when I turn the ignition on. I did have it on the HOT that feeds the 12V plug, but was worried about that fuse being too light. Hope that helps Brian
Ryana7769 Posted August 4, 2011 #9 Posted August 4, 2011 Just run the wires to the inside of the front fairing and splice into the wires for the power outlet. Thats what I did and it comes on with the key.
