For those that wear earplugs, I've been wearing these now for the past couple of months and really like them better than anything else I've tried. They're not as dense as the typical yellow foam earplugs and after riding all day my ear canals aren't sore. I can hear the intercom very well without all the engine/road/wind noise. I found them near the pharmacy in Wal-mart.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have struggled with finding a source for good ear plugs. I'd be interested to know what other folks use also.

I use custom molded ear plugs. Can buy the kit at a good sporting good store. Can also mold them around a good set of headphones and they are amazing.

Earfuze.com sells some too but they are a bit tinny.

I go to this site: http://www.earplugstore.com/ I use the ones for "motorsports" although, they are probably the same as for musicians.

I don't like the foam ones because they cut down on high frequencies. The ones for music or motorsports let through the entire frequency range.

I have used these for years:

those are a size large, for smaller ear canals, try these:

I have used the yellow foam plugs for years.I got used to them in the steel mill I worked in and found them comfortable for me. I began using then for riding about 15 years ago and found them to work well under the helmet and with the head phones.I seldom ride with a passenger so can't say how a conversation would go.
