eusa1 Posted July 6, 2011 #2 Posted July 6, 2011 a man willing to die for what he enjoys... there are many folks that think riding a motorcycle in any protective gear is still a risk. sorry for his loss and his family and friends that agree with what he enjoyed.
bongobobny Posted July 6, 2011 #3 Posted July 6, 2011 Yes it is difficult to decide what to think or react. On one hand it is indeed a tragedy, but on the other hand it is ironic that the helmet he was protesting is just the thing that would have saved his life...
Yammer Dan Posted July 6, 2011 #4 Posted July 6, 2011 Sorry for the family. My collection of fractured helmets and torn leathers remind me.
Stache Posted July 6, 2011 #5 Posted July 6, 2011 The simple story is that someone who dies doing something he enjoys is, in fact, dead. Reasonable protective equipment does not seem to interfere with my enjoyment, makes my family feel more at ease, increases my chance of survival if an accident should occur, and so on and so on. Seems to me if I'm going to insist that my 9 yr old daughter wear her helmet when she rides her bicycle, that I should wear my helmet when I ride mine. Just one Newfie's $0.03USD ($0.02CDN adjusted for currency exchange...)
Black Owl Posted July 6, 2011 #6 Posted July 6, 2011 Even though the comments posted to date have been fairly beneign, in all fairness, I am going to lock this thread also as I did with the first time this information was posted by another member The issue of wearing or not wearing a helmet is a very hot issue button which can take the topic south in a heartbeat. Hope everyone can understand this decision...
