frankd Posted July 1, 2011 #1 Posted July 1, 2011 Is Jake Wilson's the best place to buy new Avons? They want $121 for a new front tire for my first Gen. Frank D.
Old Texan Posted July 1, 2011 #2 Posted July 1, 2011 Take a Look at American Motorcycle Superstore, they sometimes have great deals. Most of the online companies are close on price. Good Luck
V7Goose Posted July 1, 2011 #3 Posted July 1, 2011 Jake Wilson is normally very good, but also check Southwest Moto Tires. I just ordered a new front tire, and SWMT was about $10 cheaper than Jake Wilson (but the three tires before this one, JW had the best price). Tire came in three days, just like normal, and has a date code of 1711, so at least the RSV size is very fresh! Goose
MidnightSpook Posted July 1, 2011 #4 Posted July 1, 2011 I just installed a set today that were from drag specialties and their date code was 0310, so I would go with JW
Snaggletooth Posted July 2, 2011 #5 Posted July 2, 2011 I just bought a set from SW Moto. I've bought tires from them for years and all I can say is their CS has taken a dive. It took about 13 days to get the tires to me with no response from them after two requests for information on my purchase until after 10 days. I'll be looking else where in the future.
frankd Posted July 2, 2011 Author #6 Posted July 2, 2011 Well, before Snagletooth put his message in, I ordered it from SWMT. The price was only .04 less than JW, but the thought of getting a newer tire convinced me. Hopefully it comes within a week---however the bikes not in dire need of a new tire, it's just getting close. Thanks all for your input. Frank D.
BOO Posted July 2, 2011 #7 Posted July 2, 2011 I usually buy from SW Moto but I just bought a new front E3 from Jake Wilson. Old habits are hard to break, can't get away from the Dunlops. As long as they keep getting me home I'll keep buying them. Did about 900 miles last weekend on a slick 491 and never gave it a thought. (Well maybe a little while I was riding in the rain) 75 MPH and 42+ MPG. BOO
