Steveb1959 Posted July 1, 2011 #1 Posted July 1, 2011 I have a 2008 RSV. There is a local guy selling Screamimg Eagle Mufflers off a 2008 HD Dyna Superglide in like new condition for $100.00 bucks. I would sure like a louder set of pipes to put on when I ride with my HD Buds. Does anyone know if these will slip on without any mods? Thanks. Steve
painterman67 Posted July 1, 2011 #2 Posted July 1, 2011 OK I ride a 1st gen so it took a lot to put them on mine. They are still no where near the sound your hd buddies have. Especially if they are running after market mufflers. From what i understand they are relatively simple install with a mounting braket and a set of clamps to attach(again I ride a 1st gen so going from what I read). But you might want to read this http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36954&highlight=muffs thread as it seems some are not happy and wanted a little more sound. hope this helps David
MidnightSpook Posted July 1, 2011 #3 Posted July 1, 2011 I had a regular set of road king pipes on my first 05 Venture. I drilled them out a little and they had just the right tone for my taste. I will be putting on a set of SE on my new 05 Venture either later today or tomorrow. I tried drilling them out like I did the road kings but they were from a late model Harley and after about 3 hours of messing with them I gave up and just cut the two tack welds at the end of the pipe and drove the baffle out. I can't wait to see what it will sound like with out any baffles. I did find that you can buy new baffles for them if I find that it is just too much. You can easily find the nice clamps for them on ebay and search for Royal Star Venture exhaust. You will have to fabricate a bracket to hold up the rear of the muffler and you can find a pattern on this site I think. If not, I know they are on the other Venture site. I've even see people use a P clamp that worked just fine. Good luck.
MidnightSpook Posted July 2, 2011 #4 Posted July 2, 2011 I just put the SEs on my bike...the ones I gutted and it sounds like you are at a Nascar race.....OMG loud. Looks like I will be putting the stock pipes back on tomorrow.
OB-1 Posted July 2, 2011 #5 Posted July 2, 2011 I just put the SEs on my bike...the ones I gutted and it sounds like you are at a Nascar race.....OMG loud. Looks like I will be putting the stock pipes back on tomorrow. I'd like to put louder pipes on our bike, but the key word is "our" bike. My wife doesn't care for loud exhaust at all. The closest I get to loud pipes is starting the bike without mufflers when changing the rear tire. That V-4 really sounds sweet without mufflers! I imagine that your baffle-less pipes are pretty close to no mufflers at all. That would be down right obnoxious if it wasn't such a sweet mellow sound, but it sure is LOUD!
MidnightSpook Posted July 2, 2011 #6 Posted July 2, 2011 You are right OB-1. The rumble of the V4 really does sound great and without the baffles, it's pretty much just moving the noise further back on the bike. My wife wants to hear them before I put the stock mufflers back on, but I know what she is going to say:-(
