Dano Posted December 8, 2007 #26 Posted December 8, 2007 Real tree, been going to the same tree farm since 92, they opened in 91. It's just a tradition (girl in college, boy in 9th grade). We go the Friday after Thanksgiving, not too many people. The second weekend, they have military re-enactment guys, old village type setup with people in costume, the BEST cider around, just an enjoyable time. I love the country life!!!!! Merry Christmas to you all, Dan
Venturous Randy Posted December 8, 2007 #27 Posted December 8, 2007 For many years it was a big deal to go to one of the tree farms in the mountains and pick one out and cut it down. Then we started getting one from one of the tree yards and after one year when the wife brought one in that lost its needles before we could get all the decorations on it, she went out and bought a fake one. That last real one looked like a Charlie Brown tree when we finished with it. RandyA
vicco27 Posted December 8, 2007 #28 Posted December 8, 2007 We used to have family arguments over which tree at which lot and when we would finally decide which one and go back to get The One! it would be gone. Then a pretty little FAKE tree came home to live with us and all is well.
Yama Mama Posted December 8, 2007 Author #29 Posted December 8, 2007 Thanks for all the interesting comments and responses. I was just curious. We have had an artificial tree ever since out first Christmas together. Ron waited until Christmas Eve to get our real tree. Of course, when he brought it into our little apartment, all the needles scattered over the floor. It looked like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. So ever sense then to avoid an Un peaceful Christmas we have had the artificial type. And it has been much more of a Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Peggy:big-grin-emoticon:

Peggy That's another reason we finally went with an artificial. The dried needles that stuck in the rug when removing the 'real' tree after the new year.....for 30 years. Arrrrgh!! what a pita!!!
Trondomatic Posted December 8, 2007 #31 Posted December 8, 2007 Our Festivus pole is real. Real aluminum. Curious? http://www.festivuspoles.com/pages/festivus/Video.htm

HO! and for all those sensitive folks ha ha ha
juggler Posted December 9, 2007 #33 Posted December 9, 2007 Is it real or not? Our cat sure likes the tree.
IH Truck Guy Posted December 9, 2007 #34 Posted December 9, 2007 REAL !!!!!!!!!! Shari wouldn't have it any other way. Traditions,We started cutting our own tree down a few years ago. #1 5 cats perched in tree knocked it over..Had to fishline it to the wall. #2 Shari said it was the most beautifull tree she had ever seen and had to have it.I told her it was 4 foot too tall, but we got it anyway.took us 45 minutes to get thru the door only to hear her say"Wow,it's pretty big". So,we ended up with 2 trees that year. #3 Got a MUCH smaller tree the next year:rotf: #4 -5 degrees and we're out tree shopping.cut the tree.get it by the truck and my daughter screams something is in the tree.Upon further review,we managed to find the only tree that had a mouse condo in it.Had to leave the tree outside for 3 days to assure the ladies that the mice were gone. #5 Now my daughter is older and has to have the "perfect tree"..After looking the trees over for 2 hours, she finally picks 1..Get back to the truck and Dad has no keys.Spend another 2 hours looking for the keys.. We can hardly wait to see what will happen at this years traditional family xmas tree outing.... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
Brake Pad Posted December 9, 2007 #35 Posted December 9, 2007 we down here i the South, don't buy trees, we just put up the lights on the palms out front. No tree has to get cut down because of me.
Yammer Dan Posted December 9, 2007 #36 Posted December 9, 2007 Gee, I was surprised that this topic was about trees. In that case, ours is fake. Real or Fake??? Its really hard to tell sometimes. The fake ones feel so real and have those sharp pointy things on them!!!
Yama Mama Posted December 9, 2007 Author #37 Posted December 9, 2007 Here is our tree this year. Peggy
