Mikealiasmike Posted June 29, 2011 #1 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Anybody know how much of a drop I need for water to drain properly on a cement porch. Right now I'm looking at 4" over a 12 foot span. Haven't poured yet, just framing it Edited June 29, 2011 by Mikealiasmike more info
utadventure Posted June 29, 2011 #2 Posted June 29, 2011 Most of the contractors I've worked with did 1 to 1 1/2 inches for 10 feet. Four inches on 12 feet should be more than enough. A lot of it is based on usage. You would want to be more aggressive on an exposed patio and less on a covered porch. Dave
eusa1 Posted June 29, 2011 #3 Posted June 29, 2011 i did 3 inches if fall in an 11 foot pad, and it works perfectly fine. mike
Marcarl Posted June 29, 2011 #5 Posted June 29, 2011 just make sure you sloop it away from where you want the water not to be,,,,, ya that's kind of important!
Sylvester Posted June 29, 2011 #6 Posted June 29, 2011 1/4"/ft. is what most slabs require. If you get less than that you will have ponding since it is hard to get the fininsh that close and still keep fall. I spent nearly 50 years in heavy highway construction.
slipstreamer Posted June 29, 2011 #7 Posted June 29, 2011 1/4"/ft. is what most slabs require That is the number that I have always read for decks. Should be the same for concrete I would think.

Mikealiasmike Posted June 30, 2011 Author #9 Posted June 30, 2011 Well, if 1/4" is whats the common number here then I did good. 3" drop over 12' Appreciate all the responses. It's all framed in and looking to Fri or Sat to pour. Even got another area ready to accept the overage I always seem to have in front of cave making it easier to get bike out. I hear thats important lol. Thanks again everybody. God Bless and ride safe. Mike
Yammer Dan Posted June 30, 2011 #10 Posted June 30, 2011 Looks like I'll be pouring about 9 Yrds fri or sat if workers show up. Good luck with yours.
