dingy Posted October 10, 2011 #351 Posted October 10, 2011 Why don't you build the garage at 38'-4" long x 18'-0" wide? This would be a square rectangle that would fit inside the catywompus polygon slab that you have. Set back one end the 11 1/4" it is out and set the other end back the 9 9/16" it is out. See post #324 Ya, the hanging triangle slabs on the end are going to look wierd, but that is where creative mulching will come in. Let somebody moan about it at the estate auction. If you don't quit worrying and mulling this, it will be a slab in the estate sale. This is based on the idea that the two 40' sides are parallel within reason. Gary
Yammer Dan Posted October 10, 2011 Author #352 Posted October 10, 2011 The two 40' sides can be measured 18' anywhere you want. The two 18' sides are 40' at the corners..:bang head::bang head:
Yammer Dan Posted October 10, 2011 Author #353 Posted October 10, 2011 Stretching it out to a 50' pad and using all the play I could on the footers I got it down to 1/2 " out. This is going from inside edge to outside edge of footers where needed. That was my last measurment on it. Leg says quit and take pills. 1/2 inch I can deal with. Block will be hanging over footer couple of inches on one corner at this but I'm getting close. I can probally get closer. Should have dug up transit somewhere. Do they rent those things? Then dig in my brain to remember how to use it. BUT IT'S BIGGER!!:clap2: 50' x 18'
Yammer Dan Posted October 11, 2011 Author #354 Posted October 11, 2011 Got it square. Now I'm going to move it.
Yammer Dan Posted October 12, 2011 Author #356 Posted October 12, 2011 Move it where? Maybe to Florida! Sounds like a good Idea!!
Yammer Dan Posted October 15, 2011 Author #357 Posted October 15, 2011 I got another contractors number. Claims 30 yrs concrete experience no job too big or small. I almost hate to call it and see what excuse they have.
Flyinfool Posted October 15, 2011 #358 Posted October 15, 2011 It is one thing to clean up your own mess, I talked to a contractor friend of mine and showed him your pics. He said that he would not touch finishing a job like that unless he was going to dig everything out and start over. He said that with the poor masonry work there is to high of a risk that something bad will happen in a couple of years and then he would be the one called and expected to fix it under warranty. This may be why some of the "real" contractors are hesitant.
Yammer Dan Posted October 15, 2011 Author #359 Posted October 15, 2011 I didn't ask for anything for the block work. Its done and is what it is. I just want a pad.
FROG MAN Posted October 15, 2011 #360 Posted October 15, 2011 Good luck with that Dan. Anyboby notice Winter is coming on.
Yammer Dan Posted October 16, 2011 Author #361 Posted October 16, 2011 I called that last number and got a voice mail. Screw it!
Flyinfool Posted October 16, 2011 #362 Posted October 16, 2011 Most construction companies are not open on weekends I would expect a voice mail during non business hours. Geeeeezzzzzzzz These retired folks that forget what a weekend means to us working slobs......
FuzzyRSTD Posted October 16, 2011 #364 Posted October 16, 2011 Most construction companies are not open on weekends I would expect a voice mail during non business hours. Geeeeezzzzzzzz These retired folks that forget what a weekend means to us working slobs...... Thanks Flyingfool, my parents forget that a lot....... Work?? Work........No thanks ...... I'd rather be hunting or riding or riding and or hunting. Shucks I think I will just paint my bike camo and get me a trailer painted camo and haul my hunting gear around and visit all that are on this site and hunt in their state and enjoy my life forever or until I run out of money. Bad idea, no money and I have to go back to work Monday morning ...... Naaaa, I am blessed and really am glad to be able to work and take care of my family. I still think that was a good idea though, camo RSTD with matching trailer. Storage on top for bow cases and tents....mmmmmmmmm Fuzzy
Yammer Dan Posted October 16, 2011 Author #365 Posted October 16, 2011 Can't get them to show up during the week . I thought maybe.....
Yammer Dan Posted October 18, 2011 Author #366 Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) Called the number today. They said they don't pour pads any more. Edited October 19, 2011 by Yammer Dan
Yammer Dan Posted October 19, 2011 Author #367 Posted October 19, 2011 Called another. No answer no call back.
Yammer Dan Posted October 21, 2011 Author #368 Posted October 21, 2011 Got a line on another. Don't know if I'll try it or not. I can't handle all that concrete but I can build the post and cripple floor.
pickinfred Posted October 21, 2011 #369 Posted October 21, 2011 Dan....Its gettin a little late in the season for buildin "Garages N Stuff" which gets me to thinking......and sometimes thats not good....but.. If there is something you want to do to your bike....bring it over to my garage for the winter. While its here, maybe I can see for myself..how much faster a 2nd Gen is.......compared to a 1st. We can work on your bike any time you want.....the only thing I ask......."Don't Be Lookin In Venturerider Classifieds":no-no-no:
Yammer Dan Posted October 21, 2011 Author #370 Posted October 21, 2011 I'm working on other plans. Might put all of them in the classifieds.
jrsain Posted October 21, 2011 #371 Posted October 21, 2011 Called another. No answer no call back. Call your local concrete plant, in brief explain your story and needs, then ask for a reference of someone that will show up. I know we would get a lot of references from the concrete plant, when a customer would call they would say "they speak highly of you at McCoy Concrete". The big issue of getting someone to come in and take off from the mess the first guy made is when it is done and you are asked by someone "who did your work" his name now gets put in the mess. Now you have heard my 2 cents.
Yammer Dan Posted October 21, 2011 Author #372 Posted October 21, 2011 I stopped by a large building going up near hear and they were pouring concrete today. Guy says he has a couple more weeks work there but to call him back. Maybe?? Just Maybe. I told him what it was and that it had been screwed up but he said call.
buddy Posted October 23, 2011 #374 Posted October 23, 2011 Dan wish we lived closer I would love to give you a hand!! one of my co-workers does concrete work on the side and he stays busy year round Mike knows his stuff when working with concrete! even in hard of winter he can do just about any type of work you want he makes it in any color you want and even patterns if you want that as well I never seen any bad work from him never!!!! if all goes well for next year I will have him make me a slab for adding onto the house next year. the type of slab your wanting he could have it done over the weekend he does an excellent job of getting everything in order and when the trucks show up there's no down time or waiting. Not trying to be a butt just wishing we were closer because you would have your slab in no time flat.
Yammer Dan Posted October 23, 2011 Author #375 Posted October 23, 2011 Getting hard to find guys like that. I used to do a little finishing. It takes a special touch. I'm still got a couple feelers out but it is getting late. Early fall is the best time to pour it. What really burns me is I could do this before that crackhead got me. A M&E would be hard to do but if I don't get it done I may frame it up myself with the block and ask for some help to pour it inside the block. Will have to do the footers by hand.
