Flyinfool Posted March 4, 2012 #477 Posted March 4, 2012 News??? This thread is 3/4 of a year old already...........
Yammer Dan Posted March 5, 2012 Author #478 Posted March 5, 2012 Well it is Spring and I had a Contractor with a fairly good rep around here claiming he would show this morning and give me estimate. Pouring White Crap down and ain't seen him!! I shouldn't be surprised....
Dano Posted March 5, 2012 #479 Posted March 5, 2012 You got what came thru here awhile ago. We've only got a 1/4" here and it'll be gone this afternoon.
Yammer Dan Posted March 5, 2012 Author #480 Posted March 5, 2012 We got couple inches. I'm hoping thats why he is not here yet. I WILL HAVE A GARAGE THIS SPRING!!!
Flyinfool Posted March 5, 2012 #481 Posted March 5, 2012 Your best bet might just be a pile of lumber, a place to park a bunch of bikes, and a pile of nicely browned flesh.
Yammer Dan Posted March 5, 2012 Author #482 Posted March 5, 2012 Your best bet might just be a pile of lumber, a place to park a bunch of bikes, and a pile of nicely browned flesh. I've thoughtof that. Getting a concrete pad to put it on is my biggest holdup. I can build it!! I've built houses. Haven't really made up mind which way to go Metal,Wood, Block?? But need pad to sit it on. I will get it if I have to pour it myself this spring. (In that case I could set time for concrete to arrive and beg for help)I've thought a lot about the metal buildings they are selling so many of right now. I could build stick (wood) by myself slowly or do block walls and build roof. Just got to get something to start it on!! He still ain't here and its snowing again!!!:bang head::bang head:
Venturous Randy Posted March 5, 2012 #483 Posted March 5, 2012 As they say, "You snooze, you loose". I took a nap and missed being the 500th post on this thread. RandyA:confused24:
Yammer Dan Posted March 5, 2012 Author #484 Posted March 5, 2012 Looks like I won that wood myself!! I can't get out of cutting it up!!:bang head:
Yammer Dan Posted March 6, 2012 Author #485 Posted March 6, 2012 He didn't show because of snow. Right? And I'll win powerball this week and just buy a place with garage....
Marcarl Posted March 6, 2012 #487 Posted March 6, 2012 He might show up, but then he probably had something else planned for today, so it might have to wait until tomorrow.
Flyinfool Posted March 6, 2012 #488 Posted March 6, 2012 I still find the whole contractor thing out by you baffling. Around here if word gets out you need a job done, the contractors will be lined up at the front door and down the street, maybe even fighting with each other for a better place in line, waiting for their chance to give a quote.
Yammer Dan Posted March 6, 2012 Author #489 Posted March 6, 2012 I still find the whole contractor thing out by you baffling. Around here if word gets out you need a job done, the contractors will be lined up at the front door and down the street, maybe even fighting with each other for a better place in line, waiting for their chance to give a quote. Maybe I ought to move!! Crackheads around here don't want to work. The one that was supposed to show yesterday is one of the better ones that was too busy last year. Didn't show today. Got me puzzled too.
barend Posted March 6, 2012 #490 Posted March 6, 2012 Been around 25 year ssinc ewe (ex and mostly I) built a garage. I did the prep work with a rented loader, bought a couple truck loads of gravel fill, and build the frame for the pad. Hired a guy who did concrete on the side and had me a pad. Prefab walls and a get together to put her up including trusses. Did the roof sheeting and siding myself but hired a roofer to do the shingles. If'n I didn't have a 12-12 roof would have done that myself too. You can do it, if it comes to it Dan!
Yammer Dan Posted March 6, 2012 Author #491 Posted March 6, 2012 I used to build houses. Garage not a problem. Leg and getting up and down is.
Eck Posted March 6, 2012 #492 Posted March 6, 2012 Hang in there Dan....it will all work out.. Hey Skid.. Eat your heart out... and still dont have enough room...(I wish)
FROG MAN Posted March 6, 2012 #493 Posted March 6, 2012 Hey Dan, is there any prize for being the 500th poster on this thread? RandyA YAMMER DAN was the 500th poster. Must of kept the prize money for himself?:rotf:
Sylvester Posted March 6, 2012 #494 Posted March 6, 2012 I am positive that this will make 600 posts. After all it took 500 just to get here and there is still no concrete layed.
FROG MAN Posted March 6, 2012 #495 Posted March 6, 2012 Yea contractors don't work for money down there. They get a free check in the mail. Dan you got anything else to barter with?
Venturous Randy Posted March 6, 2012 #496 Posted March 6, 2012 Maybe if I don't take a nap at the wrong time, I can be the 1000th poster!!!! RandyA
Yammer Dan Posted March 7, 2012 Author #497 Posted March 7, 2012 You might make it Randy. I got some spare Hydrocodones wonder how many it would take???
KIC Posted March 7, 2012 #498 Posted March 7, 2012 Concrete poured will require 500 more posts, 2 more 1st Gens and a half gallon of ice cream.
dingy Posted March 7, 2012 #499 Posted March 7, 2012 You might make it Randy. I got some spare Hydrocodones wonder how many it would take??? Your neighbors must be making you see the light. Keep this up and you may get back to your former employer. As a full time guest. Gary
Redneck Posted March 7, 2012 #500 Posted March 7, 2012 Dan you really need to know what kind of building you are going to put up before you pour a slab. If you want to put up a metal building the slab will need to have a ledge around the top edge for the sheet metal to sit in ( 2x2) around the top inside of the forms. If you don't you will have both air and water leaks at floor level.
