Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2011 Author Share #301 Posted September 29, 2011 I had figured out a plan to salvage what I had and I know it will work. He don't want to listen. I thought I was supposed to be the employer. Word is he does great work but?? Only his way I guess.
eagleeye Posted September 29, 2011 Share #302 Posted September 29, 2011 there are some very good Amish groups that have a very good name over in Flemingsburg, KY. This is maybe the best idea I've heard yet. Good luck Dan, Steve
Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2011 Author Share #303 Posted September 29, 2011 Thanks for the pictures Yammer. They don't open up to be able to see them larger, but that is a start. Thanks ............ Fuzzy How do you make them til you can see them larger?
Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2011 Author Share #304 Posted September 29, 2011 Been a long time since I done this stuff. I know if if you measure a square across corner to corner when your measurements are the same it is square. Right?? If you have rectangle footer you just measure cross corner to cross corner in a x pattern on the long sides and it should come out the same to be square. Right? Flyinfool Posted September 29, 2011 Share #305 Posted September 29, 2011 It does not matter if you have a square or a rectangle, If the opposite sides are the same length, AND the diagonals are equal, then it is "square".
Prairiehammer Posted September 29, 2011 Share #306 Posted September 29, 2011 If the opposite sides are the same length That is often forgotten.

Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2011 Author Share #310 Posted September 29, 2011 There is a old rule for making sure something is square. Is it 3-4-5?? You measure one direction 3 ft 4 ft the other way and if it is 5 ft across diagonal it is square??

Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2011 Author Share #312 Posted September 29, 2011 I remembered the 3-4-5 but have had so many numbers running thru my head I couldn't remember how to step it up. Is it 10-15-20?
FuzzyRSTD Posted September 29, 2011 Share #313 Posted September 29, 2011 (edited) How do you make them til you can see them larger? Well for me, I use my cell phone to take pictures and then use a little connector to the computer from the phone and download to a place that I call phone pics. Then when you get ready to post; 1. Go to top area of the post page, where the paper clip picture is. Says - Attachments. 2. Click on this and then click on the little blue square that says; Choose File. 3. Then go to the area where you put the pictures in your computer, double click on the picture you want and the picture will attach to the square Attachment area. 4. After you have all the pictures you want (up to ten I think) you then click on the Upload button on the bottom right corner of the Attachment area. 5. The pictures will then be attached to the post. I hope Dingy chimes in on this, because he is better at this explaining how than me. I say this in no disrespect to you Yammer. I had to learn the same way. I think Dingy helped me out. Is it 10-15-20? No Yammer, all you do is double all three numbers or triple or what ever you want. Double would be 6 - 8 - 10 Triple would be 9 - 12 - 15 You see ? Dan, This is an approximation of your slab, I can't be exact without real good angle measurements on a corner or two, but this will give you an idea where you are at with slab squareness. I assumed 40' sides were parallel to get this. Couldn't get 2nd 40' side to work out with out more info. But it is close. FuzzyRSTD Posted September 30, 2011 Share #318 Posted September 30, 2011 Now tell them its facing the wrong way!! Ya, me too.... These guys really doing a fine job. If you notice in the video, each one knows the next move, helping one another. They have built several of these... You can tell it by the way they work... I did not like the dirt being put on top the gravel base floor. I am sure they did not remove it before pouring the concrete. All they would have to do is turn the bobcat hole drill the opposite direction. Other than that, nice job.

Is it 10-15-20? Dan: I've an idea!! Lets invite James, Gary and all others that have offered help and advice on this thread to meet at "TUDORS BISCUIT" in Clay for breakfast... followed with a ride from Clay to Birch River on CR-11 "Devils Backbone" I think. Just for a little surprise.....when we get to CR-46 we'll make a left and go about 4 miles, talk about the rest of the ride while squaring and doing "Block Work". You know everyone will be excited after the first section of CR-11 and will really want to "Get Er Done" so the ride can be completed.... What do you think? Sure hope you didn't want to keep Devils Backbone a secret!! Oh well....its not the first time that I stubbed my toe. Freddie

We could have a good old time shin dig and garage building, instead of a barn raising, all the same. Dan could cook on the grill for dinner. He probably has a place for a few tent setups. For the roads, I am sorry, but no secrete at all to me. I have been all the way north and across east and west WV and all south. Never done Devils Backbone, too many bad stories about crotch rockets running over people. I carry a gun and would not want to have to go to jail for the rest of my life for shooting someone's crotch rocket...... NOW TO LOOK UP DAN'S EXACT LOCATION ON GOOGLE EARTH. Only about two and half hours away......... [ame=http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Ivydale]Ivydale - Google Maps[/ame] Fuzzy

My long opposite sides are 40' each. My short sides are 18' My diagonals come out 43' and 44' 7" WTF??? 19 inches difference??? You need to measure again, the dimensions that you gave are mathematically impossible. If the sides are 18', 18', 40' and 40' then the diagonals must be 43' and 44' 8.5" or 43' 1.6" and 44' 7" But anyway you look at it, it is off by a lot. I do not know if that can be saved and still end up with a square garage. If the new contractor has to tear it out to start over I would defiantly be looking to take the first guy to court to recoup the damages.
