Yammer Dan Posted June 30, 2011 #12 Posted June 30, 2011 Glad to see you on here. I know how it feels to do that 1st post after something like this. Take it easy and LISTEN TO THE DOCS. Voice of experience....
Pegasus1300 Posted July 16, 2011 #13 Posted July 16, 2011 Just an update Cynthia and I have been home from the hospital since July2.For the 1st week home it seems like we went to a doctor every day.My doctors are all in the Lehi UT area and all the specialist are also inthat area (UT county about 80 miles from where we live)And of course you can't pick one day and get all your appoints on that day.Starting this week we began wrist surgury again.Cynthia was Monday and he found a mess in the Ulna..Without a lot of detail it took him nearly 3hrs to put it back right and there are 2 pieces of bone that may not make it,which means the possibility of more surgury later. My Radius was in several pieces and not completely aligned so he took me apart on Friday and put me back together, with a new plate and new screws.I have the old hardware,it is kind of neat looking.I should be ok the dr. was very happy with the re alignment. The only fly in the ointment was that I had another hallucenogenic reaction and was disoriented for quite a while. They finially realized that I was acting normal to those who knew me it was only those who don't that I was scaring so they let me go. Just to be safe tho I get to have an MRI sometime this week and a visit with a neurogist. The bike went to the dealership today to have an estimate done on the repairs.Judging by how the last one went I am sure they will total it out.It is only cosmetic damage but they way they do it makes it too expensive to repair. I will try and buy it back and fix it myself. All in all we feel very blessed.I made the decision 45 years ago when I started riding to always wear a helmet and what ever other gear I could get and I have been blessed to follow thru with that decision. We had the people we needed when we needed them and other breaks. We have a lot of insurance,I hope it is enough. If you haven't upped you passenger bodily injury limites in awhile you might want to think about it. If your company allows you to put coverage on yourself I would think about it.If you have access to a disability loss of income policy( Colonial Life and Aflac are 2 that come to mind) think about getting it.We all tell ourselves it can happen to anyone anytime anyplace.............just not to me here today. But it can.I hope and pray it doesn't to any of you.I wouldn't want anyone to go thru this or feel what I feel when I look at my wife and her arm.I am just glad we were blessed enough not to have it any worse. Ride Safe my friends,I stll hope to make it to a ride in some time but it wont be this year.I hate missing Cody again so enjoy a curve on the Beartooth for me
Yammer Dan Posted July 17, 2011 #14 Posted July 17, 2011 Glad things are going as well as they can Paul. Hope the insurance takes care of you. The only help I got was from my insurance as the two idiots that ran over me were running with bare minimums. Underinsured and uninsured are very important. The first wreck the insurance company claimed I had none. I didn't keep records and had no proof. Thought I was one of those that wouldn't need it. Not going to catch me like that again. And if a insurance company says no just keep insisting. It works. Listen to the docs and heal quick.
