53 Days to go.........!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I have 19 rsvp to come, and 10 maybe, I have only 5 registrations and still have over 100 raffle tickets to sell.

Maybe some are waiting on the schedule, so here is what I have planned but its not definite and is subject to change.

Wed. Registration starts at 12:00 pm. Dinner ride to Fatz in Blairsville. We ate there last year and had a great time eating great food.

Thursday. Hopefully have 3 different rides planned, you pick the one you want to do.

1. Ride to Helen for shopping, tubing, and lunch.

2. Ride to Bryson City to raft on the Natahala River.

3. Not Decided yet, Hoping Eck comes up with one.

Friday. The theme ride for the event. The Tail of the Dragon, always fun.

Saturday. A free day to lounge around the park, play mini golf, get your bike carb tuned, take a ride of your choice. Around 2-3 pm Catered meal served at shelter # 3. Then have drawings for door prizes, raffle drawing for prizes and cash.

Thats it in a nutshell, I hope this helps some people decide and send in registrations and buy some raffle tickets. Remember all profits from this event are going to the Kids at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tn. And there is a ride for that in October.

I will also be posting the schedule of what is planned at a later date.

This year I am doing it a little differently, every adult attending will pay a $35.00 registration fee, what you get for this is a t-shirt, patch and a catered meal on Saturday. If any of you are bringing your children or unlicensed teens, the only thing extra for them is the cost of the dinner which I will put at $5.00. Only full registrations will get the shirt and patch. I will have extra shirts available for sale for $18.00, and patches for $5.00.

Please try to get you registrations to me by Aug. 1, 2011, so I can get a good count on how much food to order and how many shirts to order.

You can mail the registrations to my address which is listed at the bottom of the form.

Remember all profits will be going to the Kids at St. Jude.

(Quote).... Hoping Eck comes up with one..

Lewis,

I am still working on a planned ride, but mine will NOT be on Thursday.

Heck, I wont get off work until 12am Thursday night...

AND, "IF" I can get that Friday (and weekend off), I will be leaving for Vogel early Friday morning..

The ride I am planning will be for Saturday morning.

Kick stands up 8am, ride, lunch, ride, ride and a little more riding, then kick stands go back down at Vogel around 4pm.

Hope this is A-OK with you.

As I mentioned, even if I can not make it to Vogel, someone else can lead this ride. I will map it out and send it to you..

If I can make it........ I will let you know way ahead of time..!:thumbsup2:

I already mapped the route, just have to find the potty stops and a Gas station.

(I could have said find a place to let out the "gas" & go "potty"..)

Well you can still come up with one, I am sort of out of idea's for rides, send me the info and I will get it taken care of.

As for Saturday, I was hoping to start the activities at the shelter around 3:00 because we ran long last time and ended in the dark.

Really do appreciate all your help Eck, you are one of a kind.

Lewis,

I deleted one of your posts (above) since it was a duplicate..

FYI...

I spent most of my day today routing out a really neat ride for Vogel for Saturday morning and we should be back by 2:30pm.

A little sample of it:

8am kickstands up & head SOUTH out of of Vogel..then shortly after we turn and head east on some really cool paved back roads that I really had to ZOOM IN ON....

NOTE: I do not think anyone has ever taken these back roads while at Vogel in past years..all are paved though...

After a little ride on these backroads, we end up in Helen, Ga., "HOWEVER" Please make note: this is only for a potty stop / gas top off for those (like me) who want to top off thier tank..

10/15 minutes tops in Helen and we are OFF again..heading south out of Helen..

Then again ...we will be taking some more nifty paved back roads that I ZOOMED IN ON and we will head east, north, east and so on...Sorry, but I dont want to spoil anyone on HOW we end up in Franklin , NC.. but we do..It should be about 10:30am when we arrive in Franklin.

In franklin, we will have a 1 hour stop over for the ladies to shop and the men to snack..since since we will be eating back at Vogel in a few hours..

After the 1 hour stop over, we leave Franklin but we will NOT be taking HWY 64...again we wil be taking some ZOOMED IN ON paved backroads where we end up 60 miles later in Andrews, NC which is just NORTH of Murphy, Nc. It should then be 12:30 /1pm..then we head back to Vogel arriving very close to 2:15pm..

Lewis,

The closer it gets to Vogel the more I will know if I can make it. I really think I can though, but not sure yet.

If I can;t I will send you the directions of the above road trip..and hope someone else can enjoy leading the pack through these back roads.

OK Lewis, I am done...

I have one heck of a nice route planned for our Saturday morning to mid afternoon ride. Heck, I cant wait ...I want to ride it now..

I'm even trying to get Konnie to ride with me once again for this one..

Ok, the first part of the ride includes many back roads (35-45 mph), one potty stop, and later a gas potty & snack stop. We will be eating back at Vogel so I do not plan to eat much. everyone fend for themselves though..

2nd part of this ride is a non stop...so everyone must fill up when I stop for gas, you better get gas too.. because I am NOT going to push you..

The 2nd part of this ride includes; several (ZOOMED IN) back roads (25-45 mph) with a few main roads (55 mph) to get there..then more (Zoomed in) back roads (more 25-45 mph) and this road takes us through the wooded mountains including along the entire length of a beautiful lake (again 35-45 mph) maybe even a quick stop for a group photo...

We will end up on Hwy 129 (55-60 mph) where we can stopp again for potty and fill ups with gas then head back to Vogel so that we arrive by 2:15 pm

My wife and I will be attending the Tail of the dragon at Vogel this year. I have printed the registration form and will be mailing it tomorrow. Could you explain the raffle tickets and how much they are and how to order them. We are really looking forward to this ride. We just got home from Eureka Springs. That was our first meet and we could not have enjoyed it more. Look for our registration in the mail in the next few days. Thanks again. Stacey and Sharon (wolfieandmswolfie)

Great, glad you and the missus will make it. As for the raffle tickets they are $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. You can add the raffle ticket money to your registrations and just let me know how many raffle tickets your want, or send me a check for the tickets separately or you can buy them at Vogel. I will have help selling them for me on site. Right now the prizes are a Dell D620 laptop computer and 2 MP3/Video players and a Morgan Carbtune donated by Sean Morgan of Morgan Carbtune. Maybe more to be added before we draw. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

All monies raised by these raffles is going to the Kids at St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

Thanks again and look forward to meeting you and the Mrs........

Bob, if you like I could send you a few books to sell if you feel they would be interested in buying some.

Lewis,

I e-mailed the following message to all of the Ga Eagle Rider contacts which includes network links to hundreds of bikers in Georgia. The word is out now and they now know how to find you and the raffle tickets.

Georgia Eagle Riders,

I wanted to share information on this ride event being held at Vogel State Park August 17-20 2011 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61121 This is a ride that I participate in every other year and is very close to my heart. I will definitilly be at this one, Vogel V, Tail of the Dragon run for St. Jude's hospital. Every time I've gone it's been a great weekend with great people for a great cause. It is organized by my friend Lewis Cramer of Newnan, Ga aka Dragonrider through the http://www.Venturerider.org group that I have been a member of for years. Although this group is centered around the Yamaha Ventures and Star motorcycles all bikes are welcome. Many of our members ride every type bike imaginable.

Please check out the thread and contact me or Lewis if you need any other information.

I hope it helps your efforts
