On most bikes with carbs two tubes just above the petcock both feed the fuel pump. the reserve tube is shorter, thus draws the last of your tank. it still will not draw the last drop. That protects the pumpp and carb from normal trash. TRASHTALKING? Avoid trash like I do regular shots of seafoam. PLUS when you need fuel for things at home lawnmower lets say. Get out and ride. Take the bike down and fill it up. Go home and take the clamp of the petcock after you ran it dry in OFF. Put on suitable length of fuel line (mine is as wide as trunk and that's where I store it, to help others) put the line into the gas can or lawn equipment and turn it to RESERVE. Let all that drain out lawnmowers love it. And who cares if you have trash in your lawnmower, your not dead on the road. This in effect flushes the tank of bad fuel. Add some good fuel enough to get you back to the station. (or leave some in there) Carry the extra fuel line always to help stranded. Drain fuel into a transfer container of worse case remove their tank and drain into it. If YOU run totally out and don't want to bother AAA or AMA do the mentioned lean the bike trick, or take the tank off and tip it to the front the left then back and install. thats all you will get. Another way is to drop wrenches in there, it raises the level of the fluid. steelies or marbels work great but I only mention it because I have done it with a Marine issue Desert Dune Buggy. Yes they had them don't make me post a picture. And I'm not going to mention under the sidecover is access to the flow side of the pump, take that off and put the spare hose of that and you can shoot gas anywhere. But, our pump shoots to a specific psi. it won't shoot like a fire hose. I notice that this bike runs out and when I fill it up it only takes like 4 gallons. so the pickup sucks, or er ah doesn't suck very good. hope Maxair sells a pingle petcock forit like I put on my Roadstar. its far superior. So please, carry the extra fuel line as wide as the trunk, use your bike as a tanker to deliver gas using the RES selection and save yourself troubles. and SEAFoam! 1.5 oz per tank. or 3 oz per tank of MMO or Lucas. Also I like to say, just as a car, best to treat half a tank as empty, saves a lot of condensation and work on the fuel pump.

Silverado6x6 Posted August 28, 2013 #30 Posted August 28, 2013 I was just discussing with my business associate the practicality of establishing a biker only campsite, each lot will have a covered carport, concrete slab, power for recharging accessories, much like a mini rv park but would have a more specialized attention towards bikers and bikers needs. A common cafe and lounge with a widescreen, wifi and some bikers accessories including the option of an onsite minor repair area for limited bike services. We talked about rooms but decided campsites were better, absolute drive through for all as some bikes tour with trailers here in Alaska. All access paved and free of gravel, in the common room close circuit TV of the area so you can see your bike while heading to use the shower or to grab a meal. But we also just thought having on site security would be better. laundry, showers and even overnight rental of decent cabin sized tents, not necessarily cabins but cabins may be an option. If so each cabin will have its own bike carport, ride in, ride out, no turning around.

I probably spend 20 to 30 nights a year in Motels but I very rarely stay in one that I think is very clean including bed sheets. I usually stay in the Choice chain of Motels but last year when I was traveling from New Hampshire to Georgia I stayed in a Hotel from Hell. Absolutely the worst I have ever stayed at. If it had not been so late at night I would have kept going. I slept on top the bed with my clothes on. It was so dirty I didn't even want to take a shower there. I wrote to the chain but all that got me was a form letter telling me their Motels were all privately owned and they had limited control over them. ]Makes you want to buy a tent[/color]. Jerry That' why I bought a motorcycle camper... Getting to old to sleep on the ground... Allows you to meet people from all walks of life. Even bought a small air conditioner and ceramic Heater for it.
